I had a 2LT for a shade over 4 months and have had my 2SS for just shy of 4 months. I really liked the 2LT, it was plenty powerful and a lot of fun to drive. However, the 2SS just gives me the "permagrin." When I start it up the sound is so much more aggressive it just makes me smile. It obviously has more power and that makes it a lot more fun too. The ride feels about the same. I took both on road trips and found them very comfortable. To me, the V8 is more mod friendly, though the V6 market is picking up nicely. The interiors are identical. No difference between them whatsoever.

If I had to pick one feature as my favorite thing about the V8, it would have to be the get up and go it has. The V6 is no slouch by any stretch of the imagination, but the combination of sound and power of the V8 is pure bliss.

i prefer the v6 because a v8 in stop and go traffic gets so annoying!

I first bought the v6 because I could'nt wait for the v8 to hit the dealers here in phx,az.So we bought a 2lt v6 and loved it,now I race super stock race cars and have two champion ships under my belt so I know what is FAST AND WHAT IS NOT.We did love the v6 but when a black 2ss manual came in and was at stcker price not 10k markup I just had to have this car.
I thought if this v6 camaro is this peppy what is the v8 like,no one was able to test drive these cars unless you were ready to spend big money for it,any ways we said if we were going to pay this much for the camaro we may as well drive what we really wanted.when this car came in we could'nt wait to drive it.we left the dealership and this car had 15 miles on it so I was taking it easy and then we get a call from the salesmen and he said ...Did you get into it yet and I said no we were just taking it easy at first and he said NO you have to get into this car to know what you just picked up.Sorry so long...So I came upto the stop light and said to my girlfriend,Let's see what this thing's got!!!!
so I took off and then shifted into second gear and then third and we were already over a 100 mile ahour and both my girlfriend and I both looked at each other and our jaws were both dropped and both said dammmmm
this car is at least three times faster then we both thought it would be and now we have two and we have never looked back at the v6 again.please don't get me wrong we loved the v6 but the v8 is well worth the money

I don't really NEED that experience to explain why I got the v6.

I drive in the Northeast and was looking for a nice dd, so no way/shape/form did I want/desire/even consider an SS.

What I got was:
  • 300+ hp
  • incredible styling
  • runs stock mid 14 sec quarter mile times (I don't race)
  • near 160mph top speed (which I'll never do)
  • 18 inch all season tires for year round driving
  • traction control/stability control
It's all I wanted, it's all I needed.

I was lucky... One of the dealerships down the street had 2 different 2SS's and 1 2LT sitting on the lot that were traded in... 1 of them had 2,600 miles on it and the other had almost 5k and the V6 had 3,700 and some change... 1 was a automatic and the other was manual, the V6 was also an automatic... So I was able to test drive them to see the difference between V6 and V8

I purposefully didn't even test drive the V8 because I know it's a better car. But I can't afford that at this point of my life. Soon enough.

I got a v6 3months ago and So far I had fun going for longdrives and even in traffic. But I got curious how a v8 feels like. And so My friend got one and I got to drive it and yes I love how it pull from a dead stop but! there's no place that I can speed up around here anyways.

So power and the v8 rumble aside, they are pretty much the same car IMO

I have driven a V6 model and own a SS....the V6 is adequate, that is about it. At almost 3800 pounds, it is heavy for a mere 304 (?) FLYWHEEL HP car. Personally, I would rather be able to say YES, IT IS A V8 and then some, than stand there and explain, well it is only a V6 but it has 304hp, yada yada yada ......
it doesn't stop

Here were my options.

1) Used car
2) Mustang V6
3) Camaro 1LT RS with boston acoustics

No brainer here for me...at 22 this is more than enough car for me and when i graduate from College of Charleston in 2 years (i'm a little behind ) I will trade up for the Z28 and smoke anything with wheels lol

I'm just happy to have a Camaro and be back with a chevy

if you're in that situation, you might as well buy a used POS Asian car that gets 40mph @ 0mph.

Oh gawd.... Here we go again....

Love my V6, has more power than anyone will ever need for daily driving purposes...

Why do "some" SS owners feel the need to start threads like this or post in other threads about this...

We all got our Camaro (V6 or V8) for our own reasons.... I didn't see the need to spend another 12K to 16K for another 88HP (I have the A6 and got my LS for 22K)...

The topic wasn't about which car is better, but the differences in drivability between the two. I have one of each, a 2SS/RS and a 2LT/RS and from the inside they look the same but that's about it. The power is different and the ride is stiffer in the 2SS. The 2LT is more nimble when cornering, and for every day driving the brakes are equal. The mpg's in the 2LT is a hair better than the SS, but the TCO is lower on the 2LT. They both take about the same amount of time to wash and detail, but the SS rims are more difficult to clean and keep clean. On long trips, the 2LT makes for a better ride IMO ... Anything else I have would be my color choice specific ...

I owned a 1LT/RS M6 for about 8 months, and then bought a 2SS/RS M6. Aside from the obvious power difference both are great cars. IMO the V-6 is a more forgiving car, a bit more nimble, a bit smoother ride and 312 HP the car has is plenty to get the car moving faster than anyone really needs to go. The SS, well it's an SS... other than the V-8 grumble and faster acceleration there really isn't much difference in the cars IMO. But that being said I do enjoy the SS more... it just "feels" more me.

And the V-6 isn't better than the V-8 and vice versa.
