So, with this admittedly small sample, would you say that CAI and exhaust is safe to add and still be covered by the warranty? I think it's safe enough that I can start budgeting. Anyone else?

The headers seem safe as well. But it seems to be a touchy area. The service manager I spoke to at the closest Chevy dealer (Freedom Chevrolet, San Antonio, Texas) said he did not think the engine would be covered if there were headers installed, even the GMPP ones. So, If I do this one, I'll be checking for a different dealer to take it to.

Intake:
1. Do you have an aftermarket C.A.I? Yes
2. If so, What brand/model? Injen
3. Have you taken your car to a dealer for service of any sort? Yes- My car died on a freeway 2 days ago and I had the car towed to the dealer
and it turned out to be the main electrical wireing harness was loose/crushed when installed by the factory! No questions asked the dealer fixed it right up under warranty! I dont think dealers will turn down warranty work they need all the work that they can get.
4. If so, has there been any issue/voiding/etc. regarding factory warranty?

Headers: (same questions)

1. Do you have headers?
2. If so, What brand/model?
3. Have you taken your car to a dealer for service of any sort?
4. If so, has there been any issue/voiding/etc. regarding factory warranty?

Exhaust (Cat back):

1. Do you have an aftermarket Cat Back exhaust?? Axel back Flowmaster
american thunder kit.
2. If so, What brand/model?
3. Have you taken your car to a dealer for service of any sort? yes explained above.
4. If so, has there been any issue/voiding/etc. regarding factory warranty?

I'm hoping we can get some actual experiences to start trying to get a consistent view of what the dealers are doing about service. My thoughts are these three mods should NOT void the warranty since all factory sensors and such are intact, but I'm not the General.

Oh, last question for any of the above: What dealer were you at? Let's see if we can spot the good/bad dealers to visit or avoid?

Mike

The dealers probably would not turn down warranty work, they need all the work that they can get.

The dealer can not void your warranty due to the presence of aftermarket parts, it's the law. A repair can only be denied if they can prove the part or modification caused the issue in question. They may try to steam roll you but its your responsibility to know your rights and stand up for yourself.

That's good to know. Any specifics so we have something to use as ammo when they try to say using non-GM caused a void?? Like what law to quote or maybe a GM directive stating that? Something that puts the burden of proof back on them?

Here's a pretty good rundown. www.dummies.com/how-to/content/keeping-your-mods-warranty-intact.html

That's what my dealer told me straight up. They did advise to keep my mods behind the cats, and in front of the engine intake...no gears, no headers, no hi-flow cats...
