Thats why GM is having problems I've never seem a car like the camaro drag the processs of cars. No one wants to order a car in october and have to wait till october of 09 to get it the camaro is not being hand built I think I see more ferraris getting made then the camaro.

No. They normally just don't let anyone pre-order. Normally ordering starts when production starts or just before. The Feb 16th date has remained the same for quite a while so they could've easily just opened up ordering Feb 1st and not released any info until then either. They chose to go the current route due to the pent up demand and anticipation.

Ya but there is no reason why they cant get cars hitting dealers in feb and not march april.

There is alot more to rolling out a car than the actual production. I think we are all getting spoiled by how open the chevy guys have been with the enthusiast community. Alot of people get to see a few teaser pics of the car they want, some empty promises, and then have a good time waiting.

I still dont see why they cant get production started early theres not much they have to do to the car.

Yeah, this is not the greatest news :(. I guess we'll have to wait even longer.

The only good news I can see that comes out of this is if we get a petition going to have the HUD included as an option before production begins...

I think we all should voice our opinions on this forum, sign a petition, etc.. We were successful in getting the blue's for the SS's, with this longer delay perhaps we can get the HUD since it'll probably be standard in the 2SS anyways and perhaps as an extra cost option in the 1SS..

Thank you! I am happy with what I ordered and don't expect any changes...BUT, I was really concerned that they would be "locking down" orders months before production.

I don't get why people are thinking this is a "long delay", the production date is the same. They just plain don't need to change the orders that far in advance. If the body hasn't hit the production line and won't until Feb 16th, as well whatever options you may order are not some sort of special one of a kind setup, why would they need to know? This is good news as it gives us more time to change our orders if need be, that's it.

This is all normal, especially for a highly anticipated car like the Camaro.. GM wants this car right, from the first car delivered. so production will be slow at first, the first cars will run through many inspections and tests, and as they ramp up production the tests will get fewer as they realize any problem areas, and fix them... just be paitent. I know you are all excited about getting your car. I went through this with my Sky, and it can be agonizing at times. but once you are behind the wheel this will all be forgotten and all you will be left with is a big grin on your face as you drive off the lot...

I am also hoping the preorder really gave them the right idea of what mix to build. We can see the SS is more popular so far than they thought. Hopefully they have changed their plans and have plenty of SS engines being built and the SS platforms being preped.

Just in case, I finalized my order on Saturday. Out of four allotments to the dealer, ALL 4 are 2SS models, and I'm FIRST on the list to be ordered!!
