Are you going uphill, downhill, on a slippery road ? How hard are you trying to drive it ?

Just listen to the engine, it will tell you what it wants...

Ah, I was wondering if you would still be in first gear at 60mph. I had read/heard that was the case in the Vettes and that's part of why they were so fast.
