The key is to get a copy of the GM Order Workbench printout with your order # and the options, color, interior, etc. listed.

I had a exceptionally smooth and helpful encounter with my salesperson. I took the extra step to send him a letter (w/ a copy to the General Sales Manager) thanking him for his courtesy and assistance, to recap the order, car & options AND to confirm our conversation that the unit price would be capped at MSRP and any discounts, programs, fleet pricing, etc. available at delivery would be extended to me. Keep a copy of this letter in your paperwork in case the dealership changes hands or your salesman leaves. There's a probability that files will get purged, changed, lost, etc.

I got the workbench paperwork yesterday, all i need to do now is get the dealer to write something up saying they will sell it to me for MSRP or below. Just to cover my ass.
