D/T Headers thought the 2.5" pipes would make the v6 more import sounding, bigger being worse like what a fart can would do,I wanted to do the same as I just added the shorties to my magnaflow mufflers and resonated x and now not so sure. I talked to my muffler man I have known for 30 years and he thought they would give the car a deeper lower tone but on a v6 not so sure depending on what else was done to it so who knows?
FYI, the shorties made mine more quiet around town but a cleaner more defined sound as the magna's gave it a deep but " monotoned sound", get on it and it is louder and sounds great even with the x pipe. I thought maybe the x pipe would make it to mellow as I used it originally to control in cabin drone or boom but it sounds just right and not to quiet. Funny thing is the shorties got rid of the around town boom more then the x pipe! the exhaust sound now comes from out back, not from the trunk or inside as before! If you have the booming drone sound the Xpipe helps reduce it and make it smoother but I don't know about the long tube rasp problem.

Yeah I noticed that, when I first got the LT's it was pretty raspy. However that same day I had to go back up to college so I immediately put 200 miles on them. Now it probably has a total of ~500 miles and it definitely got less raspy.
What I plan on doing is getting the mid pipes on and waiting a couple weeks until I have a couple hundred miles on it, then I'll make the decision of going resonated or not.

As of 30 mintues ago the entire system is now 2.5, honestly the sound didn't really change much. I did however get rid of some of the rasp which is good! Now I need to start thinking about what I want to do with the stock H pipe..

Its probably a little less muffled, and more throaty. The rasp definitely goes away. I told the shop to keep the H-pipe......lol.

Yeah, I was under the impression that the rasp would probably get worse and I would need to go with a resonated x pipe.. However I'm thinking possibly just a normal X pipe. You went with ARH's X right? Or was that someone else?

Just ARH baby. Its the smaller pipes that cause the stupid ricey sound. If you go a little bigger than it goes away. But you don't want to go to big either, otherwise it won't help you performance wise.

Alright guys as of Thursday the entire system is 2.5" (got the mid pipes from an SS owner). I still have the H pipe on it, and as of right now I do not plan to go to an X pipe. I love the sound currently I just don't want to possibly hurt that with an X pipe. The rasp that I had before is now pretty much gone! Anyways the original post has been updated with current videos of my system.

Your vids and audio are great, what kind of camera did you use to film the videos? I'm now 2.5" with a stock V-8 catback, DT shorties, Injen CAI, MRT V2 so I want to shoot some good vids...

Thanks! It was my old 3.2 mega pixel Canon digital camera, since then I've upgraded to a new HD digital camera.
