ehh...In fear of hijacking this thread.....has anyone out there gotten any proof that flashing from tuned back to stock with the Trifecta is in fact undetectable??

I'm sorry..call me a wuss, but I don't want to tune my car if it will make my warranty go out the window. , and yes I know, an engine tune shouldn't affect warranty on something like say...my radio going on the blink....but I'd rather protect my powertrain as long as I can.

I think at this point I could go with shorties (after talking with my dealer service guy) but probably not LTs.

Long tube headers are the way to go, what ya' run behind them depends on how ya' want it to sound as well as how fast ya' wanna' go. Whatever combination ya' choose, a professional tune makes all the difference in the world. Pay a pro' to do it right, it's super worth it.
Learn to read the thread title. Then post =)

I'd say that emissions legality is indeed an issue. If the OP happened to reside in California, he might want to know the little tidbits of information regarding CARB before purchasing headers.

If, for instance, he purchased some long-tubes and had neither the tools or the skills to do the installation himself (or didnt have friends with either), he might be hard-pressed to find an installer willing to risk the $5000 fine for installing exhaust components that are not CARB-legal.

Either way, the Doug Thorley products have been treating me well. 1000 miles without any CEL or performance issues while providing a smooth, deep tone with a little bit of drone and noticeable gains. Disregard everything else if it doesn't apply to you.

Yes you.

Read my first post, i was telling muscle that LT headers are not legal in some places. Also contributes to the OP's original worries.

There are only 4 sets of the DT V6 Headers left for the next 5 weeks until the next batch gets done. We got bumrushed on em today.

Give us a shout if you need these before then.

Thanks again for all the support guys

I just heard O2 sensor adapters can fool your ECU. so we dont have to tune for LT headers?

there are multiple threads here with people, including me, that has tried that, and it failed. It's only worked with one person and we think it had more to do with the dealer clearing his codes for him. Some of us think the CEL will eventually come back on.

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere already. It's common for LT headers to throw a CEL and it is less common for shorties to throw a CEL. How about just mid pipes with high flow cats? Will it throw a CEL assuming nothing else changes on the exhaust? What, if any, gains would there be with HFC, assuming all else remains unchanged? How about a shorty header paired up with a HFC...would that cause a CEL?

I know in this forum someone had the dealer clear the codes and used non-foulers to keep the CEL from coming back (thus far). I have a code reader that includes a clear code function. I used it several times to clear codes when the gas cap was not tighten all the way and etc. (on other vehicles) Would this code reader not clear the Code for the O2 sensor? I know that it would eventually come back but at the very least, one would not need to go to the dealer to clear it.

I'm not sure about throwing a cel with just hfc, but I would guess, yes because the rear o2 is reading the cats.

And yes, your Code reader will be able to clear the cel, not sure how long it will stay off. For me, with doubled foulers, it was only a few hundred miles.

U can also clear it by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes
