It has nothing to do with being cheap. Those tires aren't cheap. The NT05R hooks up a lot better than the NT555R and they're only offered in the 315 size for a 20" rim. I personally don't like the bulged out look on the Camaro. It was ok on my Lightning though.

I run the 555R on stock wheels. Could easilly run the bigger tire on them. I went 555R because I like driving in the rain. 2 of my customers totalled there cars this summer in the rain running the NT05's.
As for hook, my old TA ran 1.48 60's on 555R's - 315/35/17's. |

If you guys were really serious about drag racing, you'd know that it is actually best to use as little tire as you can actually perform with. If you have full traction with 275 drag radials, going to a 315 will typically just slow you down. Wider tires are heavier, and wide tires mounted on a narrow wheel can sometimes have less contact patch on the track than a properly sized tire on that same wheel.
Bigger isn't always better, when it comes to drag racing tires. Tony

315s on stock SS rear rims...
I've seen 305s on the stock rear rims, now I'd like to see if anyone out there has pushed it to 315s.
Let's see some picures!

It won't be pretty...315's on 9" wheels is almost over the line if not already.

Even if it looks good, its a very bad idea. A 9'' rim is way too skinny to run a 315 safely.

Here's a members car with 315's on stock rims. Sidewall bulges too much.

Not to mention the contact patch would be seriously distorted. Most guys run wider tires for more traction, so that kinda defeats the purpose of running a 315 wheel if the contact patch is the same as a 275.

My buddy did this on his camaro. It looks like crap. What's the point... just to say you have 315's on your car. The rubber does not even meet the road properly when you start to deviate from the proper wheel width. It's like someone with a 36 inch waste trying to squeez into their 32's from highschool so they can say they have a 32 inch waste. If they don't fit don't try to make it work. My 2 cents.
