You don't need the switch. Are these LED lights or the tubes? If LEDs, try swapping the wires to the LEDs. They will only work one way.

Also, is the dome light on? If the dome is off, the footwells will be off.

Tubes... the light was on, i tried doing the switch and it wasnt working either... I pulled out and tied off and i'll attack it again another day. Ive had it sitting in the garage for over a year, another week wont hurt.

With either of the CCFL and SMD units, the switch isn't required if using the grey power signal wire as your power source.

Yes, you could put another switch inline (with that grey to red wire) but it would be redundant since you use the dome light switch as the footwells switch in this case.

Please PM me or ask if you have more questions when it comes to installing these. They aren't difficult once you get the wiring part of it down.
