The only thing that concerns me on this is that it is already a functioning system in other GM vehicles, not to mention other manufacturers. If something that seems as simple as some LED ambient lighting is causing this much of a problem, what else aren't we hearing about. And believe me, we probably don't want to hear about them either.

I know we are still some time away, but with the GM holiday shutdowns, there aren't that many productive days between now and Feb 16th.

I'm really fearful that we won't hear about this "officially" until after GM pulls the orders for production.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. There are facts to support this not being a big deal....the LA Autoshow silver car had an old system....fbodfather said they were simply "putting the finishing touches on Ambient Lighting,"....some GM cars already have the system.

Yet in the past, alarms, such as the "too many V8s ordered" and the resulting fear of SS production delay, were quickly suppressed by fbodfather.
So, the silence now could mean problems, or that he is simply very busy. Who knows?

I haven't even voted yet because I dislike all the choices so damn much. The ONLY thing I want is the car with Ambient Lighting...ON TIME! In my mind, at this late date....FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!!!!

But I must add, an attitude I'm sure GM is well aware of. Do any of us really think they are so ignorant, so inexperienced as to take this too lightly? Are they truely sitting back saying, "screw those pre-order people and their Ambient Lighting?" Do any of us really believe that? My opinion is we must give them credit for being the experienced professionals they are and have no doubt that they are working as hard as possible to resolve the issue. I for one will cross the "what if" bridge when we turely get to it.

IMO, the interior looks great with or without Ambient Lighting. It's a cool idea, and woudl be cool to have, but seriously, it's not THAT big of a deal, is it?

Since IF I bought a new car- it'd be a 1SS- ABL's don't matter to me. Just anothe gimmick to wear out.

Detroit Auto Show is coming up, along with a few other auto shows. Poor guy's probably working himself to death trying to prepare exhibits.

And it's Christmas. He might be back home with family.

I heard that the Camaro was having trouble with the left falangie. Now will you start a poll about how the falangie is going to make people not buy the car?

While the rumor mill keeps us all engaged, no rumor thus far has been very credible. I'll recap. We thought that there was going to be a Z28. Then, we thought that the Z28 would be above the SS in the hierarchy of performance. After that, we decided that the Z28 would be supercharged. Later, we decided, when a Z28 was off the table for the meantime, that there would be a supercharger kit. GMPP has yet to produce any evidence of a supercharger kit, but they have shown evidence of every other conceivable performance part for the Camaro. During all of this, there was speculation of a generation V motor making it into the Camaro, but that was long after the rumor that the LS2 would be the Camaro's V8 engine. There was the correctly rumored LNF Camaro, but GM scrapped that idea. Let's not forget about the pricing rumors of a Camaro V8 that would match Corvette costs and a V6 that would cost no less than a CTS. Of course, these rumors were wrong. Let's add to that the rumor that Shunt was in the trunk. I have yet to see any images proving that Shunt was actually in the trunk, and all witnesses to Shunt being in the trunk has mysteriously disappeared.

All I'm saying is that rumors that are clearly false don't need to warrant the attention of everyone on the board, and rumors that are true lead to Suburbans and people in trunks.

What exactly is the problem they are having with it? there could be many reasons for a problem. unless somewhere it is stated what the exact problem is we are all speculating that it is a problem with the design..the design may be good but whomever is making the parts may have a problem. Maybe the parts are not up to the quality they want.
Just wondering...

I am an EE for telemetry systems. Send me to Detroit, Canada, wherever, and I'll fix the damn ambient lights myself so we can stop the rumors/speculation/haves vs. have nots.

The only acceptable excuse for the delay in this feature would be if they decided to make it even more cool at the last minute. Maybe someone took my idea of using RGB LEDs and a programmable controller to allow the user to adjust the color of the lighting. Or, if they made the lights animated or something when you start the car up and shut it down!

Those ideas would be a good reason for a delay.

"It don't work yet." is just lame.

If the lighting is not going to be there, I would expect GM to reduce the price of the 2SS package.....
