Now, does anyone know what it does???????????????(don't count, it's 15) I believe a friend with an HHR explained that it sets the optimum RPM (not selectible?) even though the accelerator is floored, and controls fuel flow for a few monents after launch so max power is not immediately sent to the tires. Correct?

EDIT: There were 15, I swear!
If it does limit power right off the line, it will do so by modulating the throttle.

I bet a tuner could change the launch RPM.

What do you mean by "launch control"? Do you mean just the basic "traction control" or what?? And what does it do??

Launch control is a feature on manual transmissions that supposedly helps "launch" the car from a stand-still quicker by modulating the throttle to keep slipping to a minimum. Basically you just put the gas pedal all the way down and it takes care of the rest. But, HeatherR said it's not on the 1SS that they have (although she might just not know how to use it since it's kinda obscure).

Thanks, Ape. Sounds pretty neat, and useful to me.

No, neither of these will prolong delivery of the car.

I don't know if you could have easily found an answer to this through a search of the site. So, feel free to create a new thread in the appropriate section with any questions like this. That way we can keep the thread topics consolidated for easy searches and consistent conversation.

Hope this helps.

No it does much more, especially on slippery pavement. My dealer has had the luxury of driving the camaro. ( at place called...black....something....I can't think of the name now.)

He said, with out it on, going through a cone weave on wet pavement, he spun out about a half a dozen times. With it on, he went through faster and correctly.

Not sure which modes he had it set on. Isn't there 3 settings, or just two? I thought the older vettes had 3.

I think you are talking about stability management

i think so too. to TLSTWIN:
the launch control is basically for straight-line starts from a stop. it limits engine speed to help prevent a burnout when you drop the clutch & hammer it

Oh, I thought it was all tied together. There are actually two different controls? That's cool if there is. I must have missed that in the tech specs.
