I seem to remember Jim Halltech telling me that carbon "can" escape from the intake under certain circumstances. This is the reason for the carbon trap. There may be other reasons but I truely don't understand their process either.

I don't think ANY cai has a legit CARB sticker as of yet. Airaid may be working on it, but their product for the 2010 SS and their website DO NOT specify that they are CARB approved.

In CA, any after market intake or emissions component MUST be CARB approved and have a sticker affixed to it so that the component can be verified. Not really enforced much, but their are a handful of traffic officers out there that WILL smack you so hard you land in Nevada.

If you get caught with emission mods and without EO numbers, 27156 VC is a trip to the ref.

Yeah Cali laws r so stupidly retarded and it's just ridiculous! I guess i will have to do it the illegal way. It's not illegal unless u get caught! Im prob gonna do one of 3. Fast lane Pipeline, cai inc. Or the adm! since their all not legal it wont matter. does anyone know if borla atak catback will give u any hp! finally installed it n i love it. Love the popping!!!

Pretty easy to just put your stock one back on for Smog insp....

The first SMOG test isn't for 6 years. An officer who stops you, though, and confirms your mods can send you immediately. All the more reason to drive appropriately and not attract attention to yourself.
