That is the color of convertible I would order if given the chance as purple is my favorite color. Except with black and not tan. I had black rose metallic on a chevy beretta once and my grand prix gxp was dark cherry metallic both of which were purplish black. Course my birthday is in February with a birthstone of Ametyst so I come by my love of purple honestly. lol. But now since no chance of SGM which I fell in love with at auto show in Chicago I am torn between two others. Got less than 30 days decide which one to order. I love "purple smokes" camaro!

I personally think it is insane!!!! I know it is "special edition" and all but $40,000 more dollars is RIDICULOUS!!! Just my opinion.

one thing I don't like at all is the silver around the front window. .. what's the point behind it? I see it on a lot of converts, not just from GM.

I like it, It gives people with stupid amounts of money to have fun. (Like they need that.)

I just sit and remember, GM made the Camaro for almost every budge out there, ranging from 23k to 40+.

So for a company to get GM's blessing to add this to their catalogue is pretty impressive.

Well I see where you're coming from, but what's the HP rating that GM has been pushing a lot? 426, most don't make the connection that the auto is rated at 400hp.
To the average person they think that every 5th gen is stamped with 426hp from the factory, mistakes happen. We're just to critical on this site to let something simple like that slip through the cracks.

According to GM, all 100 sold in less than 3 minutes! I believe that may be a new record for a N-M car.

The person shopping in that catalog in earnest is looking for 'specialty' and uniqueness. That's why Neiman-Marcus does not charge Walmart prices - or, for that matter, Sears prices or Macy's prices.

Years ago, there was a saying about Rolls Royce: "If you have to ask, you cannot afford it......" (usually delivered with a sniff.....)

When the XLR was put in their catalog, it sold out in less than 20 minutes.

Is this car your cup of tea?

Evidently not.

However, we were approached about offering 100 'special' Camaros - and we found it intriguing. Let me also assure you that if you knew how much it costs to validate a special paint, your hair just might fall out!

.......in my case, most of it already has......

So - let's see how it goes.

I do know this: 30 years from now, people will be paying STUPID amounts of money for one of these - as it will be very collectible.
very well put,if anyone has ever seen "barrett-jackson" and or "mecum auctions",what you said about how much $$$$ someone will spend for these car's 10-20-30 years from now is very true,

When you reserve the car you are allowed to choose an auto or manual so if you choose the right one you get 426hp. If want flappy paddle things... well then you don't.

Is anyone REALLY surprised these sold out? I mean come on. I know we all have the OMG that much $$$$$$$. We say it every time someone asks about an SLP, Hennessy, Nickey, Hurst, Etc. car. I'm sure if you got your car painted the same as the NM it would cost a lot of money. Probably quite a few grand. Chances are the painter isn't going to give you a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty on it though. This is a FACTORY car. From GM. It will be worth more then the run of the mill convertible some day. You can make a clone of an original 69 Yenko Camaro, but it isn't gonna be an original 69 Yenko Camaro.
