So know one on this forum ever drives a car without drinking. Yeah right. Unless you don't drink at all, I'm sure that every single person on here that does has and still will drive a car after drinking.
Just because you never wrecked or never got caught doesn't mean your any better than the poor devil that smashed his SS into the tree. If you drink one it might as well be Ten. It's no different. Last edited by motorhead; 10-19-2010 at 12:36 PM. |

I've brought this up before, but my girlfriend from high school was hit by a drunk driver (she was riding a bicycle), knocked into a ditch to die overnight because the driver didn't stop. I pretty much loathe ANYONE who drives drunk, and wish they would just take a gun to their head and kill themselves instead of driving drunk. Drunk driving is pathetic.

Personally, I think drunk driving laws should be much more strict (that includes drug driving too), where you get 1 week in jail for first offense, any subsequent violation is a felony. 2nd offense is 3 months in jail, and 1 year in jail after that. Hopefully the 4th time gets you nailed by the three strikes and you're out law putting you in jail for life. That being said, I'm also for legalization of all drugs. Just that enforcement while driving a car or truck or a vehicle that could harm someone is enforced heavily.

He got off easy. DUI would have cost way more. He should be happy he only crashed instead of running into the Red and Blues.

![]() My brother falls asleep at the wheel alot and it really worries me. His girlfriend refuses to drive his car because it's a manual and she can't drive it well. I always tell her it's safer for her to stall than for him to fall asleep and drive them both off the road. Whenever I notice he's really tired and he's at my house I offer to either drive him home or let him stay the night, I just hate the thought of him crashing his car and possibly killing him. to those who don't drive drunk.

You must live in the city. Where I live there are no taxis and walking home would be a 20 mile trip for a lot of people from where the only two bars in town are. That's all well an good what your saying but not realistic. For a lot of folks in my town, even a designated driver is not realistic unless your going to pay someone to drive you around. In a real world what your saying would be great ,but until they stop selling it where people eat and entertain, your going to have people drinking and driving. It's impossible to have it both ways.

I live in the city now, but I also lived on a 40 acre farm in the country as well in a smaller town. In college, I drank in the dorm room and never drove, and I would walk 10 miles from Pullman, WA to Moscow, ID to get booze and drink while walking back. Or we'd go to bars in Moscow & walk back. I had a car, but NEVER took it along because I knew I was going to be drinking. This was back in 1982-4.
The only times I drink now are on the Camaro Cruise where I'll drink at the destination restaraunt when I know I won't be doing further driving. I also will drink at home when friends are over. And, of my friends, the people not drinking are ALWAYS the ones not driving. I don't buy the BS excuses on this. If you're going to drive, DON'T DRINK. Yes, it's that simple. I hope none of you ever lose a loved one to a drunk driver, but if you did you would feel the same as I do.
