Does'nt the center console gauge cluster come on the rs only? Or is it an option?

Gauge cluster comes on 2LT and 2SS trim packages. RS is an appearance package.

The standard SS wheels, the RS wheels, and the polished wheels are all the same 20" wheels. The only difference is the finish. The SS and RS wheels are painted (sterling silver on the SS and midnight silver on the RS). The polished are not painted, just polished aluminum.

The RS package seems like a total waste on an SS. Body coloured roof ditches....woopie doo, and the difference in the rear lights is barely noticable, oh, and the all important badges....seriously.

AGREE!
If you're getting the SS then spend the money for the RS package on something else.

Well to some people those are important. For me it gives the car a finished look. Honestly I think every car should come with at least painted roof ditch moldings. It just looks like GM didn't want to spend the extra money when it came to completing that part of the car, so they left it up to us.

The rear lights are noticable, I have been parked next to plenty of non RS cars and you can see there is a darker tint to the RS lenses.

The Red SS badging just means the car has the RS option, it sets it apart if you don't know otherwise.

Your opinion is valued, thats why GM gave us the option of being able to customize are cars a little from the factory.

It's all in preference. Personally I like the looks of the Halogen headlight housing over the Halos. To me it looks more like the First Gen which is what I'm going for.

I did want HID headlights so I added some aftermarket HID for about $250.

The tail lights are ever so slightly noticable only if you have an RS and non-RS side by side and you stare real hard trying to see the differnce.

The roof ditch molding again is a personal prefernce. If you buy Black or CGM you won't really see it. I have a VR and just had mine painted the same color yesterday because the car happened to be in the paint shop for something else. It didn't cost me any extra. Afterwards....it's a toss up. I think ultimately it does look better color matched but the black gave it a nice contrast as well. I could definately go either way.

I think the only thing that really bugs me about the non-RS is that the DRLs are basically headlights. That means you headlights are on all the time unless you turn them off every time you start the car. Durning the day the headlights distract from the looks of the car .... espcecially when you have HID since they are so bright. So far I haven't found a way to permenatly turn off the DRLs. That's the only thing that makes me almost wish I bought the RS.

I also wanted the white SS badging to match my stripes. I think the white badging looks better no matter what color you get. Don't let that be a deciding factor though...those can easily be changed.

I disagree. To me, the RS package is what makes the car whether it's the V6 or V8.

And this is why it's an option.

+1

Good thing it is an option. There will always be some that like the package and others that will not.

The RS package makes a bit more sense on the V6, to give one the peachy 20" SS style wheels. Having said that, I'm sure there are folks out there who are more than happy with the stock 19's.

Wheel wise, yes. But I was going more in the direction of the halos.
