I heard "butter bar" on tv last night for the first time (watching Stargate Universe) one of them called the other a "butter bar". Since he had a single bar on each shoulder I figured that must be what they're talking about.
Weird to hear it for the 1st time in 54 years and then 2x in as many days.

Too funny that the kids wanted to see the Camaro instead of the jet. Easier to relate to meybe?

Anywho's...........Thats too cute. The story details about the kids is further proof that no matter it be a 18 million dollar F-16, 130 million dollar F-35, the unthinkably expensive Starship Enterprise or a 35 thousand dollar Chevrolet, whats relative to being an attractant to kids attentions in the modern world of gizmo's and gadets is its current popularity at the box office............Come to think of it, where did my mother put my old corrigated card board box fort, Johnny,Timmy, and Daniel were still fighting to crowd in it the last time I saw it............. just before I disappeared indoors to watch F-Troop........

Here's a pic of USMC Officer rank structure, the first one is a 2nd Lieutenant O-1. That's what we call a Boot Lieuy or Butter Bars due to them being gold in color and the officer being new to the service, similar to a Private E-1 in the Enlisted rank structure.
