It's been a while since I've been on here as well. You'll probably be hearing a lot more from me as we continue planning for the Camaro Homecoming at Oshawa Assembly in June, 2011.

As mentioned in our original announcement..... our Firebird Friends are most welcome at our festivities taking place in Oshawa.

As Scott mentioned in his earlier post, at this moment all we have done is announce the dates so that Camaro (and Firebird) fans coming from further distances can begin their planning etc.

While I've not been involved in the 20+ years of the Ontario Nationals, I have been since 1997......and as I recall, the Nationals were held at Oshawa for the first several years........always sponsored and presented by the Ontario Camaro Club.....

....now for the part I'm not sure of -

They were held in Woodstock for a few years and then moved to Thorold -- what I'm not sure of is if they moved from Oshawa to Woodstock or there was another location(s) between Oshawa and Woodstock.

What IS true in order to have a successful show: Location, Location, location! It has to be relatively accessible AND -- with a Province the size of Ontario - it has to be relatively easy for the organizers to get to -- as they spend a LOT of time months before the show opens..........and thus the reason for Woodstock and Thorold and Oshawa....



It was only natural for us to work with the Ontario Nationals as they've supported the Camaro Team for all these years - including the years when Camaro went on hiatus. We called the Ontario Club at the last moment to ask them to bring a few Camaros to the Oshawa Assembly Plant the day we announced that the 5th gen would be built there - and of course they showed up en-masse!

So -- I "unofficially" approached Dale and the Executive Group of the Ontario Camaro Club at a show three years ago - and asked them if they would consider moving their event to Oshawa when the moment presented itself.....

........the problem was getting to that moment........

....once we got the go-ahead for June, we went back to the Ontario Club - and they cancelled their plans for Thorold - (which was no small feat, by the way - it cost them money and a lot of time and sweat and such....)

So we're delighted that the Ontario Nationals will be held in conjunction with the Oshawa celebration.
