If you mean you put straight water in you washer bottle thats a bad idea. Read this.

I always use the rain-x washer fluid. It works really well.

Rain X for winter

There are different Rain X products. 4 seasons is not good for real col weather. For real winter there is a more effective product. Rain X de icer is really effective even in very cold weather. Does make a little shade on the first wiper pass but it goes away very fast

around here....the water in the tank doesn't have a chance to do anything during the summer, thats when I use straight water, because we are using the washers ALL THE TIME. LOTS of bugs!!! I put something in the tank once the BUG season is done.....but not anything special.

I use the RainX deicer in the winter and the regular RainX washer fluid for the rest of the seasons. If I have to use regular washer fluid, I have the RainX that comes in this funky bottle that you squeeze the fluid into this little cup thing and then you pour it into the washer fluid reservoir to keep it working until you get the good stuff. I use it on all the windows of my Envoy, it helps keep the frost away if I have to park outside. The RainX wipers work great also. Keeps the snow/ice from caking on the wipers while you're driving.

+1 I've used RainX wiper fluid for a while now and it works great. I have had friends convert over to it when they saw how well the rain came off the window during a storm. They would ask if I treated it with RainX (assuming I was using the wipe on version) and I would tell them it was only the wiper fluid.

Definatley recommend it.

How about the orange all season 2 in 1 stuff? Is it car wax safe? I can't seem to find any info on the wax situation.

Rain-X for bugs and ice.....sounds like the Michigan formula. It is the only state where I have seen a snowmobile and a jetski on the same trailer.

Personally I hate the Rain-x washer fluid. Every time I've used it, it leaves a nasty film all over the car and on the edges of the windshield where the wipers don't reach. I end up having to wash the car just as soon as I get home to get the crap off.
