[QUOTE=SIN R G;2652282]I ordered the ground effects from Chevypartsplus.com and it is being delivered to my house tomorrow. I talked to my dealer about installation and was told about 400. I asked about painting and they had no idea. I called another dealer that I know has one in their showroom with one painted, they told me it was 870 to paint. Most dealers around here don't know anything about the ground effects because they have not ordered a Camaro with them. And he ones that have, just put them without painting them. I know a buddy that has a body shop that mostly does work on Corvettes and will take the ground effects to him and get a quote from him and a few dealers. My Camaro is going to look smoking hot with it on.[/QUOTE

ive been debating if i should get them but would i be able to install myself or do i need to have my dealer install???

You can install them yourself. The front and rear facia needs to be removed to install them. I opted to not paint mine. I was concerned that they would get a lot of rock chips. If you do get them painted you may want to consider clear bra material on them to prevent chips. I had it installed on my unpainted and now they have a glossy finish. Close to CGM.

paint them to match your car but you can get away with them unpainted if you have a CGM car. I have had mine on and painted for 16 months now and no chipping other than 1 or 2 tiny chips from normal driving.

take them to a few body shops... you should be able to get a bite for a ~$300 paint job. If you say you have $300 cash and will drop them off.... as is.... with no installation.

... I had mine done for $150, but it helps to have friends in the buisness... then the dealer installed them (you pay for installation in the price of the factory GFX).

I would consider leaving the bottom part of the rear diffuser alone... flat grey (like Hylton's silver SS). It is a pain to prep and paint... and it looks pretty good like it is......

your painter will thank you

To me they look unfinished if they aren't painted to match except for the CGM since they match. The other thing to ask is about the warranty. The warranty is normally voided if they are painted.
