Moral is: Don't let anyone near your car with a pressure washer

Ouch.. i mean you can use power washers to an extent but dont sit there on the same spot jeeze... if you dont pay to have them painted.. see a local sign shop and make good with the bad and get some custom striping mabey? and its way cheaper.. i paid 250 for all of my stripes.

He apologized (after I noticed) and offered to pay for it once I got quote. He said he was trying to remove a stain. I don't think he knows what he's in for.

Choices are:
-Leave it (just take the cash)
-Replace just damaged stripe
-Another full set of matte black.
-Full set of Silver
-Go for different type of stripe
-Remove completely
WTF !!!!!!!!! Ice Damage.
Watch it Mates.
This could happen to you if you let ice build up on your stripes and try to remove it.
My dealership will replace the stripe

If the dealer didn't installed them or came with them from the factory, they will not be cover under the warranty, and since your tint Guy installed them I doubt you are going to have any luck trying to get them fixed for free.

Anyway, I don't think they were ever designed to withstand a power washer.

They aren't, same thing happened to mine (and I don't think the sun or the color has anything to do with it).

Nah, only dealer accessories installed before delivery are covered by the 3yr/36K warranty. If the dealer installs after delivery, I get only a 1yr/12K.

No painting for me. I know they are more durable, but they simply don't look the same. Black stripes on a grey car will get 'lost' if I clear over them. Too much reflection to even see the stripes. I know a lot of guys have done that and I respect your decisision, but the look doesn't do it for me. I like the differing textures which expose the stripes from any angle, in any light. Also, I get two more choices available to me if I don't paint; I can remove them completely or change to a new color. Can't do that with painted on.

Was the car wash guy just a kid or something? I wouldn't freak on him too much but be certain he knows not to pressure wash vehicles with vinyl stripes on them. Also, I don't think he'll have all that much cash... so let it go if warranty covers you? Was an accident but I would be a bit that he didn't tell me first.

I would either take them off and leave them off or get the dealer to put new ones on. I am not a fan of having factory paint molested unless it has to be, so I would not have the stripes painted on.
