One of our local communites that we support with donations just took bids for new vehicles, and never gave us an opportunity to bid......they bought TOYOTA'S! Point here is, make sure your local elected officials KNOW you will not tolerate your tax money being spent for foriegn cars & trucks!

Nope I pick the best car for my budget, needs, and wants, what brand or where its built, assembled, parts are sourced from doesn't matter.

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

It is a factor for me.

There are number of imports that I like (Mitsubishi Lancer for a family car, and I like the looks of the Eclipse but just not impressed with the powertrain, etc.), but right now I wouldn't even consider anything but American.

Or a used car from a Domestic dealership - like my Accent that I bought from a chevy dealer.

I buy whoever offers a superior product for the dollar. If GM and American companies dont make a vehicle that competes, then why do they deserve my money? They dont.

But with the Camaro around the corner, it looks to be unbeatable for the price. I don't buy American, I buy Superior.

I buy what appeals to me, if its American, great....if not, so be it. The new G37 vert is very tempting, will have to take one for a spin when they come out.

That's not to say I don't like some foriegn cars...luckily, there's none to tempt me away from a Camaro.
I totally agree.
This is going to get messy, but its just MY OPINION! People forget what happened before (WW1, WW2) Who's to say that couldn't happen again? And WE/YOU would have FUNDED IT! Now they just let them run into our market not caring about anything as long as everyone gets their cut.
Now, the big three did need a considerable wrist slapping to get their ass back in the game, and i believe that has happened.

My money stays on this side of the sea!

Also, since the Camaro is being built in Canada, i can finally say, "I'm buying Canadian!"

ding ding ding we have a winner. while many foreign auto manufactures have plants here supplying thousands of Americans with jobs, the bottom line (profit) still goes overseas. This profit helps china, japan, and whoever else to buy up more American debt. Do u really want China to own more of us than they already do????? As mentioned earlier American auto manufactures are competing very competitively with the foreign manufactures. No, you may not be able to get the exact nav unit u want, but seriously buy an after market unit, at least it is upgradeable on your own.

AND YES I WILL CONTINUE TO TYPE IN CAPS WHEN UN-AMERICAN COMMENTS ARE MADE

I appreciate the fact that the money for this car will be going to a US company, but that wasn't necessarily a determining factor for me. GM and most large companies are multi-national and profits don't necessarily go solely to the US.

EDIT: And just a reminder (I think I said this before), this car was designed by an Australian team and built in Canada, so I wouldn't call it exactly "American made".

It was also conceptualized, and designed (the looks) here. And we shipped many of our engineers over to Oz to assist in the engineering done over there. They're a global company -- but when GM prospers, it's a good thing for the US. When Toyota prospers...how does it help us?

It is a major factor now. I lived through the years of poor quality American cars, (anyone remember the Chevy Citation). My last two cars were foreign models made in the United States; but in this day and age, that is no longer acceptable, (for me). The quality of American cars has improved drastically and now is comparable, (or exceeds) the quality of Foreign vehicles. Only American from now on!
