Meh I'm already kind of used to the drone @2k at this point. So other than that I have no complaint. I like the deep deep exhaust boom tone I get with this set up and it really growls when I step on it. Some odd clinking and clacking sounds are coming from the bottom of the car now though every once in a while..but I'm OCD when it comes to installing new aftermarket parts so its prob nothing to worry about.

I just installed mine this afternoon, wow! I was slightly worried about the drone sound but it was a low mellow tone. Any exhaust will have the loudest tone from 1.5k to 2k Hz, but I am impressed with this axle back kit, it fit perfectly and sounds great. I am 44 and could even go louder, but it is a sweet sound. Personally I liked the sound of the magnaflow exhaust but did not think it was worth the extra money. One of the members had problems with cutting the exhaust. Just make sure it is 9" from the end of the exhaust hangar, not where it is attached too the exhaust pipe. On the video it looked like you measured from 9" from the hangar but should be from the end of the tip of the hangar which is about an 1.5" from the hangar and too short.

Im waiting on my car to be built, and currently in talks w Flowmaster about the fit on verts. Im wondering though- the majority of drone complaints seem to come from v6 owners; is it the engine or the exhaust? You are the only v8 to post on here, so im curious....

The cat-back on my SS drones noticeably in the 1.5k-2k range, but that's also the range where AFM (4 cyl mode) kicks in. The factory exhaust is purposely setup to minimize this noise, which is one of the reasons I think folks notice this so much when they go to aftermarket. I just chalk it up to a combination of the signature Flowmaster rumble and the annoyance of AFM that I haven't tuned out yet

Can't speak 100% for how the v6 setup is, though. I just know -some- drone is part of what makes it a Flowmaster.

I can't answer for the v8 other then My 98 LS1 has shorty headers and a magnaflow cat on it and no drone, just loud when you get on it.
And yes more a v6 problem I think then a v8. Drone is from low rpm low speed exhaust flow and goes away the more rpm's you are at. the v6 is a high rpm car and the v8 by nature comes on faster and the drone not as bad I would think, but I guess depends on the system.

Yeah I would have to agree..people with v8 seems to have less problems or easier solutions to drone.

I have been getting some odd noises after installing the exhaust..I thought it would go away..but it didn't. Some knocking noises and weird noises from the shifter. Any thoughts?

Sometimes when they move the exhaust around when working on it a clamp or something can get to close to the car and hit making a knocking sound especially on a bumpy road.My one clamp on the right side was hitting the crossmember near the resonators.

I've heard the auto's come stock with drone tuned out by the factory exhaust. I haven't really heard any complaints from the manual V8 owners yet... I'm hopin this holds true ,as I've always loved FM and plan on getting the AT as soon as I get confirmation it will still fit the 'Vert!!!

I have the Flowmaster American Thunder kit and I didn't like the drone. I installed the Magnaflow resonated "X" pipe in place of the stock "H" pipe and it got rid of the drone and it sounds great along with the Injen CIA.

Yes, the stock v8 autos are quiet. Just, TOO quiet.

I just had mine installed, and I love it. If the drone lessens some over time, that's a bonus. I got what I was looking for sound wise
