I played football at a small college and still compete in powerlifting in the USAPL. Been training since I was 15 (because I was the smallest lineman on our football team). I am now 38.

Weight - 330-350 (now in the 350ish range)

squat - 720 (raw - belt only ) 848 in competition with squat suit
bench - 550 (raw) 700 is best in comp with shirt
deadlift - 722

love the gym, been working out since my early twentys and I'll be 45 this year. I don't really go heavy anymore because my shoulders are pretty bad, but I can still do my body weight or better in most exercises. Still have some fat though because I really like beer and I have a cookie habit.

I blew a disc back when I was a kid (15) on the leg press machine during P.E.. So here's a little advice for you younger guys / gals out there.

Don't go overboard pushing too much weight until your body fully matures!!! Use free weights whenever possible!!! And when you're starting out, get someone who really knows what they're doing help teach you...not just someone who thinks they know what they're doing, but someone who REALLY DOES KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!!

Of all the posts I've written, this may just be the most important one!!! There aren't many things worse than having a screwed up back...except being a kid and having a screwed up back!!! With everything I've been through, if I could just keep one person from injuring their back, it would honestly make me happier than I could possibly relay to ya's with simple words!!!!!!!!

Brother, hearing this makes me want to cry! You have no idea what you're in store for as you get older. If there is one thing I can tell you is to stay in as good of shape as possible, and NEVER let yourself get out of shape! And I'm not talking about any kind of harsh exercise regime. Do as much walking as you can stand, and keep your CORE as strong as possible. If you do that and never let your weight get out of hand, it'll help you more than you know!

This is going to sound stupid, but I'm actually going to start praying for you now...I feel so bad!

you wanna know what sucks... tearing your acl and mcl in 2 years and getting surgery 2 years in a row.....and now it is taking me forever to get my muscle back in my legs....i need to lift 70 lbs with just one leg(the repaired one) and it is taking me forever because your legs get really really weak after surgery...especially a second one.

luckily i've never torn anything or blew any discs. Worst i had was 13 hour days of running, swimming, and a couple breaks to eat. all with shin splints. 2 stress fractures in my right leg, and diffused pnemonia....eventually blacked out during a beach sprint (at least i didn't quit! lol)
