AFAIK, you don't need a tune with shorties. A tune would probably optimize things, and net you a few more HP, but I don't think it's required (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I'm getting my DTs installed right now, and I don't plan on getting a tune. Maybe in the future though

You should be fine with the DT's welded up. Only reason they would throw a cel is if they weren't welded properly.

I had my JBA's looked at today at the dealer. They used some exhaust cement on and around the the flanges and my cel went away for now.

If the leak comes back, they'll weld the flanges at my expense ofcourse, damn JBA's

This is the sealer they used and swear by it. Only time will tell.

No problems with cel. Just make sure your shop strips away the ceremic where he will weld or it could leak through.

Well My tuner wants me to go with JBA - Ceramic coating & I also talked to my welder at work and he too suggested the JBA..because of how they're made.... So now to get my car out of storage & into the garage...Hopefully when I get back from vacation 23 Feb..it should be ready... Then back into storage for a month :( & then the fun begins ...can't wait...

I was thinking of using a sealant we use here at the plant to try if mine ever comes back up. Got some gaskets i made in there for now. I still insist the best way is to have them welded like the DT's. Easier to have the stacker welded to the header before welding the stacket to the cats. Then tack it to the cats and drop the whole thing for cat weld. I may still do this to mine even if the CEL doesnt show back up. Will have to wait for warmer weather tho.

I welded mine myself, and had to make an extension for everything to line up correctly. I did not get the ceramic coating. I like mine all natural!

If you look up Trifecta on Google, it will list their website where you can find all of the tuner "dudes" for all areas of the U.S. He first quoted me $325 and then down to $275. Is this really a good price? Why haven't they come out with a tuner that I can buy and keep myself? Overall, most of the performance places that I have been dealing with tell me to forget the tune for now, as it isn't THAT necessary. We shall see what the car does once the headers are installed.

I'd agree that with shorties...tune shouldn't be that necessary. Not saying it wouldn't help AT ALL, but it shouldn't be enough of a difference worry about. The shorties also shouldn't cause a CEL
