The auto ss are fast to so ether way you go you will not make a bad choice imo.But as far as most the ppl here with ls3 once you get a car with a stick you wont want an auto (unless you drive in rush hour) I had to drive in some snow the other day (Its my dd and proud of it) it drives prity good,but the tires suck in snow....I say if you realy want to get it, Have someone go with u that knows how to drive one then after u buy the car have them take you to an empty lot or out of the city do lots of stop and go, in about 30min or so you will get a good idea, the worst part of it, If your new or atleast to me was up hill starts from stops that is a pain if the car behind u is on ur (a##) if you dont know what your doin, Just as a tip let out on the cluch slow.. and dont rest your foot on the cluch, you can burn it up faster that way

Bro go for the L99 it is usually faster down the quarter mile and you won't have to worry about screwing up a 30k car.

Get a stick shift I learned how to on a Porsche people worry too much about messing up "Nice" cars. If you are interested in learning how to drive a stick and are a true car enthusiast, you'll get the hang of it in no time and it'll be much more fun trust me

If you understand the concept of how a manual transmission works then the only thing you really have to get used to is the feel of the clutch, which all vehicles are going to feel a little different anyway. The first car I owned was a manual, and I had only drive one once for a couple miles before that. Sure you're going to stall it a few times, but you will get used to it pretty quick (especially if you don't want to mess things up too bad). I say go for it. Hell, a sports car doesn't really seem like a sports car without a stick (please don't take offence it's only my opinion).

Go ahead and get the manual....you won't regret it once you have gotten the clutch down. Personally, I wouldn't own my SS in an automatic.

A stick will make you a better driver but there is a learning curve before you are proficient. If I had my way, all driver ed cars would be sticks.
The rest of the world drives sticks, why not the USA? My stick learning cars were a '49 Jeepster, '60 Chevy Biscayne and a '55 VW. |

I'd love to find a manual rental and just drive it around for a week. But it seems nobody has those any more.
So as an alternative, I have 2 buddies willing to let me drive their cars around. I have a choice between a Dodge Neon SRT4 Stage-3 or a modified Honda S2000. All the driving will be in this Michigan winter...... It will be interesting. I look forward to it though, as I've been wanting to learn for years...

I test drove the LS3 before i got mine and the clutch felt good it never turned off on me. And i havent driven a manual since i was in HS.
OP: you'l be fine. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to drive a manual. Get it manual and you'll get the hang of it. Thats what i was gonna get but couldnt afford it. Have hopes for the Z28 |
