my bad, thought he was comparing the nt05 to the 555series in general..the nt05r ISthe best drag radial nitto makes , but for street use on a dd .would not be a good idea..that should keep it simple enough..also no one i know of that is 450 rwhp has any luck with the 555r at the track...possiblke that they are not heating them up enough..from everything i read , need minimum 5 seconds of burnout...that require4s line lock...most camaro,s don,t have..getting ready to order mine tonight...waste of money for drs, if you can,t heat them up..imo

Do the NT05R need to be heated up as well? I'm sure they do a little but I don't have a line lock. Wasn't really planning on getting one either. Also, what do you think a resonable RPM would be to launch with the NT05R?

You don't need a line lock although it makes things easier and lets your rear brakes last longer. You need to "two foot" or "heel toe" it whatever you call it. You put your right foot on the gas pedal and your heel on the brake pedal with your toes on the clutch. I do it in 2nd hear so I can get the speed up a bit. Give it some gas with the right foot while releasing the clutch with the toes of your foot while continuing to hold the brake. Once you feel you have heated the tires up enough you can take your foot off the brake pedal and move forward. It takes a little bit of work but once you get used to it it will by easy.

http://www.superchevy.com/technical/...est/index.html did anyone actually read this,, professional testing with the nitto dr...only way it would hook was with 5-10 second cooking of tire @ 16lbs of air...that should give you a little insight on nitto dr and mt dr...if they could not hook up the nitto dr nto5 untill they did a serious burnout, imagine how hard it will be to get a 555r to hook...just saying.....you are not doing this while holding brakes..also should be a 2nd gear burnout....spend 150.00 and get a line lock...save your clutch..good luck...

Go with the highest pressure that will hook. I run them at about 25 psi, but I'm not making all that much RWHP. If your making more RWHP, you'd want to drop them down a bit more (16-20 psi) range. I've heard guys going lower than that, but most of the time its not needed. If you drop down too low, you'll start to lose some time on the big end of the track.
Nuptualnemesis pulled 1.61 sec 60' in his cammed SS running the NT555Rs, so they can get the job done. |

nice times, but 60ft times are nice but 400rwhp and 800 rwhp, are entirely diff beasts...i could not pull 1.6 without a lotta luck and slicks on 654rwhp..so each require diff tire setups ...what kind of power is the cammed na ss and is it auto...also makes a lot of diff..you could put nails in the 555rs and when i smoke them up and get them hot, i can promise you they will not bite in 1st or 2nd gear..i know...at least in my car...so you really gotta plan ahead..what hp will you be happy with and buy tires accordingly..4-5 months ago we got approx40 camaro,s togethjer up at sgmp and there were only 4 superchargers..2 with 555r, 2 with perelli,s the un sc cars were actually beating every sc out there, because we did not hook...i actually had the fastest time and had to run with all traction control on running 22,s and taking off @ 2800-3000 rpm and short shifting instead of running to 6k...i only ran a 12.1 @ 116 mph..with a 1.8 60ft..the other 2 sc nitto,s drs could not break 12.6 and were all over the track with everything turned off..just saying...i am going pony wars 4/2, but will have some 18in with mt et,s and extra axles.also running 50/50 meth, hitting approx 700 rwhp.. hope to see some of you people up in sgmp...its 5 hrs from s florida..

Somewhere between 15-20 psi depending on track temperature/condition/prep. Start at the highest and work your way down until you no longer spin them. If you run them to low you will feel the car get a little squirrelly on the top end.

"As others have mentioned, you have to get a Nitto pretty hot, but they work very well. I've been 9's on a 20" Nitto 555R and 10.4 @ 134 mph with a 1.55 60' in Midgard's 650 RWHP auto Camaro on a 20" NT05R. They work excellent on the street as well if they are warm." Rick - Livernois
