I think these were the drivers side looking at the orientation - both sides had almost identical rubbing marks although to date I have only heard noises from the front passenger side. I almost feel as though bending the lip of the base plate away slightly would solve the problem. We greased up both locations after re-assembly and so far no more noises.

I had the same problem bro, but been running pro-kit w/ sways for over a year and no more problems...it appears to me the clear rubber sleeve on the spring isn't an the bottom of the spring where it belongs from what i can tell in the pic..the purpose of that sleeve i would think is to avoid metal to metal contact like ur getting...u should be able to slide it to the bottom of the spring by just taking the wheel off and jacking the car a bit...u shouldn't need to drop the struts again...good luck -JON

hmm, we were moving those sleeves around by hand yesterday but as you say they are not all the way down, I will give that a shot though, thanks for the tip. It's difficult to screw up this installation as the coil basicaly sits in a groove on the bottom plate so maybe there is a slight manufacturing defect.

The sleeves are called coil wrap. They are there so that the stacker / dead coils don't make noise. They are not there to keep the lowest coil off the strut / lower spring perch. If you move them they will get cut by the lower spring perch and then you will have coil pop in addition to your current noise.

They are not my coils and I could be wrong. Make sure you speak to Eibach about this and let us all know how it turns out.

I called Eibach today and they were pretty helpful, they asked me to document the whole saga and email to them with photos. They will get there R&D to investigate. I will keep you updated when I hear back from them.

p.s. I did ask about the possibility of a bad batch but this seemed to be the first report they had got with this issue.

Paul,

the aftermarket is an interesting one. All too frequently people get parts that don't quite fit. Their expectations are so low they find a way to make it work and the information never gets back to the manufacturer. Your call to Eibach to day will help them with their on going product development. As much I as I don't want to hear we have a problem with anything we make, I know that every customer call with a fitment or function issue is an opportunity to improve our product.

Eibach is a quality company. They will make it right for you.

Had the same issue on my pro-kit the coil wrap is suppose to start 2 1/2 coils down from the top as per Eibach do not move that wrap I did and it started an even more annoying popping sound and feel in the steering wheel.

Do not move the coil rap. As Pete said it is there to help when the spring coils stack. Follow Pete's suggestion, contact Eibach. They have always stood behind all of there products that we have installed or used.

I've been in touch with Eibach and sent them photos, I'm just waiting on a response from their technical people. I'll post back when/IF I do hear from them.

I never did hear back from Eibach, but we took another look at the seating of the front coils, added a bit of grease and I have not heard the noise again for almost 2 months now - seems they maybe weren't seated quite correctly...............

My guess is the coil has compressed a bit and seated into the lower perch???

1. Can you grab another photo like this one with the car on the ground? It would show us how the coil is seated.

2. If you have ride heights following the install, it would be interesting to measure them again and see if it has changed.

If you can't or don't it doesn't matter as you're noise free

I've been noticing this noise intermittently lately as well. Especially over speed bumps in my apartment parking lot. Definitely in the front only, but can't quite tell if it's passenger or driver, or both. It's not consistent at all- it will happen some times and others not at all. I don't know if temperature or something could affect it, but it's weird. I'll have to get under there and check it out, see if I have the same rubbing pattern. Wonder if I could see it without pulling the wheels?

Normally I would just not recommend a product. However, the eibach springs for our cars are not up to par. Mine left play in cup that over bumps and pot holes it would allow the spring to bounce out of the cup and un-cock its self.

Needless to say those are gone. I have my Hotchkis setup we sell and its truly the best I've ridden in to date.
