Happened to me once, took it to the dealer and the report I got back was that they did some sort of signal reset. never had a problem since.

Mine comes on every once and a while. Took it in for it and they replaced the wire from the antenna to the mirror. Started coming on again a few weeks later. I brought it back but before they looked at it the light was green again. They said it would need to be red for them to troubleshoot it. It never stays red long enough for me to bring it in for them to diag it. It's kind of annoying.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread because the light next to the onstar button has been red in my car for @ least 3 weeks and I didn't think any thing of it. After speaking with an onstar tech they diagnosed the problem and my battery for my onstar system needs replacing.

probably a bad onstar unit. Mine did the same thing the day i got the car, they replaced the unit and everything has been fine since.

My Onstar went back green today, dunno what the problem was though.

If I dont have onstar anymore I would have to go to a dealership to get this checked right? I get the red light on occasion too

Happened to me a few months back. Took it to the dealer and they said they would have to re set it, whatever that means. Of course it it turned red again a month later so I'm done with it, not worth going to the dealer just for that.
I'm not going to renew it anyway.

Mine was red one night...called Onstar & they said to return the car to the dealer for service. Next day, the light was green & has never been red again.
