Not to mention all the unknowns on the Camaro have quite frankly turned me off as of late. I mean ABL?? Cyber Gray?? When they'll show up?????

I've found a 2006 Z06 Corvette (2LZ I think) with the chrome wheels and GPS navigation system installed. It only has 5100 miles on it. Yes that's not a typo, 5100 miles. Selling price $47,000. Velocity yellow in color.

I mean sheesh, this car was around $82,000+ new.

Now, with Camaros selling at MSRP for $36,000 for a 2SS/RS for 11K more I could get this Z06. That's the first issue. The second issue is that if this Z06 has depreciated $35,000 in 2 years (and only 5100 miles) what in the world is a Camaro's depreciation gonna be like???? I mean, are we gonna see 2SS/RS Camaros selling for $15,000 in a year with 10K miles on them?

This Z06 has a clean bill of health, car fax etc. Never damaged what so ever. My buddy has an 08' Z06 and is really pushing me to get the car. I've never really been much of a Vette fan. Quite frankly I just feel like they're more of an old person's mid life crisis car, and I'm only 33. But for this price it's very tempting.......

Thoughts??
This is an interesting post to me. I typed out a very similar post this morning and then deleted it all because I didn't want to put up with the back lash. I have/had the same feelings. The auto show pushed me over the edge when I was able to sit inside the camaro and the vette. Along with all the things you mentioned, without the ABL the interior of the camaro just doesn't make it for me.

I bot a 2009 CGM 1LT with Z51 package last week and am very happy I did. Love the car. I am sure the camaro is going to be great, but, I will wait a few years for mine. For the price I got on the vette it seemed too hard to pass up. Besides, it's still a GM. Now I need to decide what to do with my 2SS/RS I have ordered. I am #2 at my dealer and have been told it will come in their first shipement of cars. Only problem, my color is CGM on it as well. I will be looking for someone that wants to take my place in line I guess. That is, if the dealer will allow it.

more money, less gas mileage, weaker looking vehicle.

only plus is better performance, getting it sooner, and MAYBE better recognition from some people.

The issue here is not gas mileage, money, looks or the performance of either vehicle. You obviously feel as though you would be betraying your own sentiments in buying the vette. That is a serious conflict. Don't buy the vette. Stay true to your own feelings. Don't let others make this decision for you. Stick with the camaro. How fast and for how long can you drive every day??

I have over 5 for sale threads bookmarked of C6 Z06's for around $45k. I am seriously looking at going this route. Go try to drive it. You will have a big smile and a Vette to add to the vehicle list.

Just an obervation from a Camaro guy. You will eventually do what is best for you. And that is great.

But, Corvette's are Camaro wannabe's. When they grow up they will have backseat just like a Camaro.....

Just kidding.... So you Corvette Guys can lay off okay!

I like 'vette's too. Just prefer a Camaro myself!

You should just wait a bit and test drive both before you pull the trigger.

Now that I've thought on it for a few hours I tend to agree. Like I said I'm starting to feel like a some kid with money burning a whole in my pocket.

I'm just going to sit tight for now. I'm not going to order a 2010 Camaro and I'm not going to buy a Z06 Vette. I'm going to leave my cash in the bank and let it draw interest/invest it until I have some concrete information to make a decision with.

After seeing the NAIAS pics Fbodfather posted of the 2010 Camaro I got all excited. After talking to dealerships I was less excited due to markups/msrp pricing as well as not finding a local dealer that will accept my GSU discount status. Now that there are so many questions surrounding the 2010 Camaro from Ambient Lighting to Cyber Gray (the color I want), to stripes, I'm just going to sit back and see what happens. I'm in no rush what so ever.

I'm just over the whole damn thing honestly. Once things settle down, the money will still be in the bank (plus some) and I can decide to get a Camaro, whether it be a 2010 or 2011 model, or a used Z06 Vette after looking into the details a tad more.

On a side note....I stopped by a local Dodge dealership I'd been talking to about a 2009 SRT8 tonight on the way home from work. I'd been trying to get them to give me a price OTD for a Challenger SRT8 with their new EP ++ deal with all the rebates and 0%. First of all the salesman I'd been talking to for 3 months was "no longer with the dealership". Secondly, the sales manager flat out told me their dealership wasn't "liquid" enough to order me an SRT8 Challenger. They only had cash to sell what they had on the lot and actually referred me to another dealership. I got the feeling the guy was telling me in no uncertain terms this dealership was about to go under, and it's a major dealership in my area.

Spooky.

If I had the xtra cash I'd be ALL OVER THAT. Personally I wouldn't pass up that car....or maybe you should even try to look for a better deal than that if possible. I mean you already have 3 other rides might as well get a vette to have fun with. I wouldn't get a stock C6 over the Camaro, but the Z06....at that price....I mean damn, that would be nice

Your words, Speedy, "I've never really been much of a Vette fan." So is what you mentioned about the Camaro really so objectionable that you now want to buy a car you're not really interested in? Your decision, buddy.

Unless you are dying to have something fast now, wait until you can drive a Camaro. Only a little while longer. The Z06 prices aren't going to suddenly skyrocket in this economy. The low milage is nice, but I think you could get close later.

I've driven a few Z06s. Awesomely fast car and I've contemplated pretty hard on getting one. But last fall my wife and I drove one up North for a weekend getaway, 600 miles roundtrip. It's just not a good trip car. It rides hard, even on the expressway and it's noisy. Now for around town, short blasts or track days I don't think you can find a better car for that little cash. The Z06 can be a daily driver. But the Camaro is just a more usable car. And right now it's a much better looking car.

Thanks. As usual your insight is greatly appreciated.

I'm not looking for a track day car. I'm looking for a weekend toy that is both fun to drive and comfortable. Like I said, I'm gonna just sit tight for a while to see what falls out.
