BOTTOM LINE don't let the DIC tell you when to change the oil.
Yeah, but when you're a guy, it's hard not to listen to your DIC
(sorry, couldn't resist)

The other thing I wonder is if they loosened the spec up a bit... basically allowing for a little bit more of stretch before throwing a code...

recently saw a 07 CTS come in here at the dealership with this issue...unfortunately it was too late for this guy and the chain damaged other things too....according to GM this issue was fixed in the camaros....

as far as the ticking....im happy to know my car makes this noise because of direct injection...like its counting down to being unleashed

Got 65,000 miles on my 3.6 engine. 7,000 miles should be no issue for todays oil. Got over 300.000 on my 4Runner before I sold it to get the Camaro. I changed it at 7k-7.5K miles.
I did a break in by the book and my dynos and 1/8 mile results were no different from anyone elses with the same mods and D.A., just follow the book.

Not that I am aware of. I know the chains were replaced and the part numbers and when were documented on here somewhere.

correct. just change the oil. I am aiming for 6000 miles each oil change, and I am using Mobil 1 too.

Oh I am sure that won't affect us. Our 3.6 engines are so much more better than some silly ole' Saturn motor.

Apart from the milage, how long should you keep the same oil if its full synthetic?

There are so many theories out there on this one. The DIC is at about 40 - 50 % life left in the oil when I am changing mine at 6000 miles. I personally don't feel comfortable going more miles than that, but that is just me.
