87,000 and the stock hp/tq is like 260hp/320tq. Sick huh? Only 260 hp!

I say go for it. Nothing you are doing will be permanent and could be undone to return back to stock if needed. I wouldn't cut the a/c off, just change the belt so it isn't routed around the a/c when you race it. I'd add a tuner to your list of track goodies and go have fun. Again I just wouldn't do anything that couldn't be undone without leaving a trace.

I am making note that a "Sell it to NicksVSix" is still not a polling option! lol

Correct, use a short belt. I wouldn't do anything irreversible. I'd want the option to go back to stock easily.

As far as a "tuner". These are not OBD1 or 2 cars. They are the old "chip" cars. It has a phase II chip in it now. I could have a buddy burn another chip if need be but they are much harder to change the tune on than the newer ones.

I should have specified chip instead of tuner, sorry. Does it have aftermarket exhaust/headers already? Basically I'd get that thing breathing as best as you can without altering it permanently. Maybe a decent new cam? Just keep the original parts so it can go back to a stocker if you ever so desire.

K&N drop ins. (there are 2), stock TB, stock manifolds, no cat, flowmaster catback. Not wanting headers. It's loud enough!

Your 2010 Camaro should be good for autocross as is. Just use it! Yes, it'll wear on the tires and brakes. Just replace them as needed.

Better get something of lesser value and turn it into what you want. Leave that nice 350 IROC alone.

Autocross is mostly about the handling so do anything you can afford to the wheels, tires and suspension. Power is great but if you can't get it to the ground it's worthless. The IROC was a great FS or ESP car a few years back and with some tweaks and a good alignment you will have serious fun. Gearing stinks, but if you change to a non factory offered gear you will be bumped to a class where you will need to spend a ton of cash to be competitive.

Have fun, cars are only worth the enjoyment you get out of them today. They don't really build anything that will be a classic like the old steel cars that can be restored and worked on anymore IMHO.

i had a 89 RS that i turned into a drag car swapped in a 96 camaro LT1 with a through the hood ram air, rear gears, shift kit the tranny, and trailing arms the car was amonster but so much fun on the track... i say race it! the car isn't worth anything besides sentimental value... i sold mine for about a third of what i put into it not counting labor.

I voted "Eh, it's a third gen, have fun with it!" because, well, it is. I've never really cared for the 3rd gen and an 89 isn't going to be worth much these days anyway. And if they do go up to "classic" status, it will take a LONG time to get there.

IMO, cars are meant to be driven so slap the mods on and go have fun Autocrossing

I don't remember that being an option. I have no doubts the SS would tear up the track with mods I have but it is also a car I take on trips and cruise. The IROC just collects dust so I want to do something with it.

It's a tough call... I can't get another car. I already have 6!
