Also, you have an onstar system for such remote location disasters. The old fears displayed in commercials about being in the middle of a corn field somewhere with no one to talk to are no longer an issue. I saw an article today (yes, for real) where some overweight guy got lodged in his spiffy new Vette and had to use onstar to call for help. lol.

This for the win.

The crap some of you guys worry about is mind boggling.

Sure... so long as you get cellular coverage in that corn field. Otherwise, no OnStar, and you'll finally understand why so many of us are paying $$$$ for a spare!!!

Where do you put the spare? The battery is in the place of the spare.

If I could have gotten a spare tire for mine, I would have. I have had at least 4 flat tires in my life. It only needs to happen once for you to be glad you have that spare.

Inflator kit: easy, convenient, but not good for a major puncture and if you use it you will then have fix a flat gunk in your tire and wheel

Onstar: easy, but, you have to have cell coverage plus pay monthly fees. Then you have to wait for them to show up and go from there.

Spare tire: no matter how bad the flat one is, or how far from civilization you are, you're back on the road in 10-20 minutes

FEN did you buy those parts individually or buy a kit? I'm trying to figure out the best route to put together a kit, or just buy one as the sealant kit is useless IMO. I don't want all that gunk in my wheel and tire.

I put this together myself almost two years ago. Now you can buy a kit on Ebay.It cost me more to piece this together than the Ebay kit sells for.The sealant kit is a last resort and the gunk in my tire would be the least of my worries at that time

I have all the bases covered.....
Spare tire
Tire inflator/repair kit
Onstar
Next....flatbed truck

Ahhh, this is a great thread! I did not know a spare would even fit because of the battery. I learned something new! Guess I'll be on the look out for a kit. Thx!
