This was pretty much what i was thinking lol. Though if your finances are secure enough that you can afford a ZL1 then go for it. If i had enough money then i certainly would since youd spend thousands just to get it nearly as quick as an SS and it still wont sound quite as nice as a V8. Also wont have people asking you if it's a V8 if you have a V8 with a SC on it and maybe a nice cam lol.

the differential in gas prices DOES NOT make it worth it. Now the fun factor...I would keep it and do some suspension and appearance mods, leave the motor alone.

I think if I could have gotten a 2011 SGM in an SS and convertible my 2010 SGM would have been traded in. Since they never made the car I would have bought, I am keeping my 2010 and might add the painted heritage grille, 20 inch polished wheels, and some kind of aftermarket exhaust. (I really think all exhaust on the V6 sound like wet duck farts at 3-5k rpms)

You have got to be kidding me. Make your own decisions based on what you believe, not what others say. So what if it's a V6. The V6 kicks ass. But if you really need somebody else to make this decision, then you should be driving a Mustang. Now I'm kidding you.

Personally, I'm keeping my v6 for awhile. I probably could have afforded the stripped down SS, but why?! I would have been strapped for cash, sitting at home saving my money so I could afford the smallest of mods. When I do get my SS it will be with -everything- I want on it, and I will plan on keeping it as my toy for a loooooong time. So what if I have to drive a v6 for now, its still plenty fast on the highway and can keep up respectably with most anything on the road. No one is doing 160 down the highway. I can put all the toys I want on it to make it look niiiiice in the meantime. One day, sure Ill trade up, but only on the day when I can have -my- SS, my dream car.

Of course if you trade in now its way to late not to take a financial bath. I looked at doing the same and the A-Z $ loss to me is just financial stipidity. I like the car as is and a few more mods coming to make it better but to late to trade now in my view unless you plan on using the ss for what is intended, if not its a waste.Practically speaking of course. Cheaper now to turbo or sc it when they come out with the bugs ironed out.

Thumbs up to that! The ZL1 looks great, but i'll just keep my ss and mod it up. Doing it slowly but i plan to pay it off soon, so I can purchase something else to drive around and keep my baby all dolled up. But in reguards to the original post, don't wanna be a thread jacker (think of an old 80's song when you say that and think sledge hammer)! Do what you have the money for. I say mod up your v6, pay it off and then buy an ss!

if you can afford the ZL1 and the fuel costs, go for the ZL1. If your good where your at now, keep the 6. Its a great car, but by no means will it beat the feeling of an SS. Unless of course you do the math and see if its cheaper to go the crate engine route vs upgrade. Which is what im doing, still keep my low vin love of my life, but she turns into a modded beast wearing RS badges

to fill up the v6 here, cost $97 for regular
For the SS here, it costs $107 for 70L
Thats if fuel costs do pinch you, like it does for me, this justifies my v6 lol....for now
doesnt seem like much of a difference but when you consider its for 70L and that the SS would burn quite a bit more fuel, it adds up. And insurance rates here are brutal to.. $500 a month for the 2LT/RS, i need to give you guys anal lube before I tell you what they quoted me for the SS lol
So moral of the story, if you can afford it, want a V8 sound, go SS or ZL1, or even better, do the best of mods and drop a crate engine in there. Would be a unique camaro

OP, why not just lightly mod your V6 and keep your car for a few years? Why take the big $$ hit? There will always be something faster and better. The SS guys are now taking a back seat to the ZL1, the upcoming Z28, the 5.0 Mustang, the GT500, and the 392 Challenger. The game will never end.

The Camaro you already own is fast, good looking, and handles well. Mod it. Drive it. Enjoy it.
