Yes I have been to the dealer 3 times for the same issue, Gm claims this is normal. I have asked the dealer to install wheels from a V6 Camaro, but they will not do this.

The dealer hooks up a Hz meter, and they use that as a reference and the meter tells them its a tire issue, not a drivetrain issue.

I've asked them to look at the driveshaft.

I had this. Tried everything. Road force balancing, the whole works.

Finally bought different brand tires. No joy. Vib was still there.

One day, I decided, "what the hell;" I'll try rotating front left to front right and vice versa. Smooth as silk.

Nothing to lose. Give it a shot.

I have an LT RS and after 2yrs. and 10,000 miles, Im am dealing with this issue as well. Hammers big time from about 70 mph up. Before this issue started, I made the mistake of reversing the rears when putting them back on at the track and ran about 500 miles that way including 100+ mph at Watkins Glen track. It has only been since and at the Glen that the vibration has become apparent. I have since put the rears on their correct side with continued vibration.

Are you guys feeling the vib in the steering wheel? That's where mine was. I could let go of the steering wheel between 50 and 70 mph, and it looked like a milk shake machine.

I had tried everything, and was grasping at straws when I rotated the front wheels. I'm pretty sure mine was a wheel problem because new tires had no effect on the vibration. I still have no idea why this cured it.

Did you have to hammer on the wheels to get them off?

Did you forget to clean the mating surfaces on the hubs with a wire brush before re-mounting wheels?

I have serious vibration at highway speeds (70-80mph) while under acceleration. The vibration eases when I let off the throttle. Everything shakes during this vibration; drivers seat, steering wheel, passenger seat, shifter. Something is definitely wrong. Had it to the dealer; they found nothing/did nothing. Taking it to a different dealer. I will drive the car with the shop foreman to demonstrate the issue.

In 31 years of driving, I have never owned a car with so many problems requiring so many trips to the dealer. At this point, I'd just like to get the car right so I can sell it.

Re: Vibration
Ok thanks for letting me know

the major issues with this cars design is in the rear subframe and differential itself the diff is clearly made for a V6 and under load on the SS the actual posi unit tends to vibrate in the weak aluminum housing, so many guys have proven this including ourselves with many customer cars.

when the posi vibrates it will then cause the axles to whip and a harmonic will come through the chassis at 80+ mph, its very annoying.

I would suggest if you can to buy a GoPro camera and mount it under the car aiming it at the diffrential and axles, put a flashlight under the car as well. drive it and when you load the video in a computer you can see whats going on more clearly. I know its a pain but its really the only way to see the action and no dealer is going to go this far.

we have been using the DSS 9 inch kit and feel its the best solution. we have tried beefing up the stock diff with all the Jannety parts and they all failed so we dont even offer them anymore to customers. the OEM design just sucks. let us know how you make out.

jam,
Any resolution here? Mine has 6700 miles and the vibration above 70mph. Waiting for some good news on a fix.
