Dream car.... why would you skimp?? after all when you are spending thousands of dollars sometimes a few more just doesnt bux cant matter.

I ordered the V8, SS RS because "to me" and many others it would a sacrilegoius to buy it with less. and of course I want the V8 power...

My hubby says V8 = MUSCLE. V6 =FAMILY Car. (although the car is mine)..resale 20 yrs from now... V8 will be what more men want.

I have been waiting to own one of these babies since 1978 (but then it was my love for the Z28 and the same kid daily that used to pass my bus stop).... .. My first car was a 71 Chevelle with a skimpy 307, I also was the son my dad didnt have, he taught me about cars, how to work on them, and I can still talk cars with the best of the guys......

Then a few yrs ago I had to see transformers, I instantly fell in love with the Camaro.. That is when I told my family I would be ordering one and have followed the car very closely since then, They all laughed at me... not nice to do to mom!

Simply it boils down to with so much of my heart and soul in this now I couldnt get a V6.. and even if gas was 15 bux a gallon I wouldnt get a V6, I would just ride my motorcycle more.

I thought LONG and hard about this. I kept telling myself, go with a 2LT/RS and enjoy it, it's more affordable than the V8. Well, it's almost the same damn price as the 2SS. Then I considered that I'd get my V6 quicker, because I'll have the money quicker.. But, that's stupid. This is my dream car, why would I want to have to regret something everytime I get in it? Who cares if it's more money? Save longer, patience brings great things.

What I'm going to do is save until I have well more than enough money to buy a 2SS, that way, whenever I'm selecting my packages, etc. I won't have buyers remorse. Also, the extra money will assist in higher insurance quotes. (meaning if I didn't save more than enough I'd blow it all on the car and have nothing for insurance in the beginning)

Gas isn't a problem.. the V8 gets good mileage.

Of course I'd rather have the V8, but the more practical decision (for me) is the V6, especially in this economy. I work for a "Big 3" supplier, which has been making cutbacks for some time and could fold anyday - just like a lot of other companies. So I feel pretty confident in my V6 decision. It wasn't easy though! Maybe in the future I'll be trading up to the Z28!!!!
Oh, I've seen all the videos and the stats on the V6 are impressive, but as you said yourself "I'd rather have the V8," and "in the future I'll be trading up." There's my point, you're already regretting it.

As for the economy, I work for the government so you know we'll stay in business if we have to bankrupt every last one of you (joke, really!).

The main reason they own one is for the prestige of it. I never said anything was wrong with it. Particularly amongst men, it's simply seen as more "manly" to own a V8. Even if that driver never utilizes the power, the knowledge that's it's THERE is empowering to him/her.

That's all. It's not complicated.
Yea, I really do think that's part of it. Whenever anyone speaks of the V6 and how good it is there is always that caveat: "it's great! ----- for a 6..."

Another good point. When I look over at some of the people driving the V6 mustangs- sacrilege. Not ALL of them are teenage girls, but some of them I wonder "why?"
I don't want to be one of those.

the 2LT would beat a mustang 6 of course, and give a GT nervous twitches, but an SS would say to a GT, "Like the idle wind, I heed you not."
I think I'm talking myself into it...

Well back in 1994 I bought a Z28. They delivered to my office. After 4 hours of having upset stomach do to the payments I took it back to my dealer and got a V6.

I can tell you this. I regret doing that decision every day. The Z28 was a much better car. I rode better and of coarse put me back in my seat. You will be much happier with the V8

how many of you will actually race a mustang at a light etc? not refering to people who go to a dragstrip. just want to know the amount of you that would actually give it a go if a stang pulled up next to you.

That's it. That's all there is.
Then me having a Solstice GXP (4 banger) makes me what, a "Little Girl"

My 08 Solstice GXP with a couple of mods put out 300 HP, if I pull up to that light with a V6 Mustang, LT Camaro, I will be seeing you both in my rearview mirror. That is my point, when the Solstice came out everybody had to have one (170 HP), then the GXP came along (260 HP). So many guys upgraded to the GXP, because they knew they were no getting the full potential out of the Solstice with a 2.4, 170 HP. If you have doughts, get the V8, because it will cost you more to go back and make it right the next time around.

It's really pretty simple. What do you want? What would make you happy? And does the opinion of others bother you. Sure, on a Camaro enthusiast site your gonna get a bunch of testosterone laced responses. If you're afraid of macho men calling your car 'girly' or 'not a real Camaro', then the V6 is not for you. Like some have said, most people don't go to the track and won't utilize all that horsepower and the street is no where to do stupid stuff. My wimpy Mustang GT only has 300 hp. That's probably 100 more than I use but lease on the GT was less than the V6er so I got the GT.
