I have to laugh whenever I see a blacked out car, because growing up around Mennonites and Amish, it reminds me of the 'Black Bumper Mennonites'. They painted their chrome bumpers and hubcaps black to keep the car 'plain looking', and not flashy, to comply with the faith.

Who knew the Amish are the fathers of the blacked out look!

You should see the blacked out horse drawn Amish carriages around here. I will post a pic the next time I see one tied to a light pole at Menard's.

It IS overdone, overplayed, unoriginal, etc.

Yes, it does look good on MOST vehicles, but not when 7 out of 10 at an intersection are also blacked out.

I am considering darkening up certain things on my car. I'm thinking about going for a clean black and chrome look. So I'm not immune from blacking certain things out. It's just... I swear I see 5 or 6 random blacked out vehicles per day.
