Now with the price of gas so high, full size pickups are in on the act. It's not unusual to get behind a line of cars traveling 40-45mph in a 55 zone. The lead douche will turn off and the next leader still goes at that pace. Drives me nuts! I don't want to fly, maybe 5-7 over is good. I pass on double yellow lines at least twice a day (always in a safe setting for these slow speeds.) Luckily I have a skip shift elim or my 1st-4th gate would be worn out. But it is satisfying to smoke the tires in 2nd while passing a Prius, flipping them off while they lay on the horn at you. I miss the days when I lived in metro Detroit, when if you were lucky enough to be moving at all you were doing 90. Anybody lucky enough to be able to drive at least the limit where you live?
I was JUST saying this yesterday to one of my friends who was complaining about accidents on 696. Of all the places I've had to travel in this country, Metro Detroit had by far the best drivers. People who were in their cars because they wanted to get somewhere. As much as I love driving my Camaro, I'll be damned if I roll along in it at 35 by choice.

No problems here in NH, except today. Got thru the 55 MPH construction zone on the highway and some guy in a small cross-over decided to hem me in on the 2 lane highway by getting in LH lane and taking forever to pass the guy in the RH lane. I kept a safe distance and did not tailgate but he knew I was chomping at the bit to get back up to 75.

Needless to say once I could I grabbed 3rd and rev matched. I think I got back to 75MPH after a 1/2 mile of coasting

Usually it's the opposite, when I pass I have to speed up because the cars I'm passing wants to keep pace for some reason.

Here we also have 45-ers. These people go 45 no matter what the speed limit, be it in a 55, 30 through town, 20 in school zone, they don't deviate from 45

That would be frustating.

In my area (6 lane highway) with a speed limit of 70mph. If you're not doing
80-85mph, you better get out of the way, because thats how fast everyone is going.

But you still get the occasional person doing 55-60mph (speed limit 70) in the slow lane. But that's cool as long as the say in the slow lane.

I know EXACTLY what you mean!
Luckily it isn't too bad here (deepening what time of the day) usually I cruze on by around 70-80 and if I'm feeling the need for some power might hit 85-90. Never really had that much problem with cops or jackass cause I don't get on your ass if your slow I just simply let you be and go around

Going from a full stop is tough. The thing is though I don't think you save more gas when you take your time getting to the speed limit. My thinking is the longer it takes to get to your desired speed, the longer you are on the gas pedal and the hard the engine works i.e. you can notice your RPMS gettin higher and higher and staying at say 3000 rpms longer.

IMHO if you get to your speed limit, quickly but safely, you will spend less time stressing your engine speed and more time coasting once you get to the speed limit.

My favorite are the folks that choose to go 45 on the interstate on-ramp when the speed limit is 75mph... The on-ramp and acceleration lane are there to match the speed of traffic on the highway... not to give them room to slow down behind you so that you can take your sweet time to get to the speed limit. I don't like having to take the first gap to get into the fast lane and go around, I would be fine to merge normally, but not at 30mph slower than the pace of traffic.

After owning a number of HiPerf Cars over the years actually find myself driving this car slower, turning down the radio, just to hear the sound of the V8.This car just sounds good and more music to the ears when the exhaust goes on. to myself at all the azzhats that for some reason want to race you everytime you pull up to a traffic signal while minding your own business. They just have to gun it when the light turns green LOL Getting old Nah

^ This. WTF right?

On a side note, cruising south on I-29 two weekends back, 270 miles averaged
21.49 MPG with my cruise control set at 75 MPH, 6th gear right around 1,800 rpm.
