I would never consider universal fit seat covers. I'm talking about custom fit neoprenes. I've never bought any; however, and appreciate the input from those that can see the benefit.

I'll check out those websites, thanks for the linky.
No problem for the links, that's why I love this forum as much as I do. I have been helped so many times, I might as well help when I can.

If all you are concerned about is wear/maintenance then perhaps consider a simple strap-on seat pad instead of seat covers. I have used these (about $30) for many years on the drivers seat only, both my current cars with leather seats. They are inexpensive, comfortable, and do reduce wear/maintenance on my leather drivers seat. Also a plus, only takes about 10 seconds to remove. Regardless, you still need to clean and condition the leather/vinyl about twice a year to keep the material from drying out.

A simple beach towels works great for me. I work outside and don`t really want to get my seats dirty. Funny though never considered my self ghetto. lol On the weekend just fold it up and put it in the trunk.

Just make sure the seats are perfectly clean before putting the covers on. Otherwise any dirt is like trapping sandpaper between the two layers that will constantly grind away at your original leather seats.

Neoprene are very nice covers. I'd either do that or buy someones take-off set of leather or save up for some aftermarket leather seats that are usually a lot nicer than stock.

Seat Covers on Leather Seats

I would NOT put seat covers on, biggest problem would be it the possibility of the Seat Air bag may not deploy properly or that it might cause you harm if it is deployed in an accident.

I bought a Vette years ago (c5) that the leather seats were messed up on. I put in seat covers from this company and kept them on for years.

However, as mentioned above, there were no airbags in those seats.

Putting seat covers on new seats is like not having sex with your girlfriend so that she's untouched for the next guy.

Those are seat covers per se, they are replacements for the factory leather.

My 2011 2SS/RS has almost 60K on the odometer. I drive it year round in SE Michigan. The driver's seat gets used the most. It still looks like brand new. Why risk putting a cover over the seat and causing wear on the leather from the cover?

I drive mine daily and started to see some wear on the drivers side so I ended up ordering seat covers from Iggee and installed them yesterday. I have no interest in saving my seats for the next guy as I don't plan on there being a next guy. I do however have an interest in saving the seats for me. I like knowing I can take the covers off and the leather will still look good, or at least better than it would have without the covers. If you don't want seat covers in your car then don't put them in. If you think they are silly, oh well. There are many things others do to their cars that are not for me but if it makes them happy then who cares.

As for airbags, Iggee uses velcro to close the sides and different stiching to allow the side airbag to deploy. Clazzio says it is not for leather seats which I am pretty sure has to do with the airbag. I didn't look into neoprene.

I would leave your seats the way they are, a few years down the road if the seats are damaged, you could always get them recovered.
The driver's seat will show the most wear, you could probably get that recovered for a couple hundred.

Or, just throw a towel on the driver seat to prevent wear and scratching then you can remove it anytime you want. JMO

Keep in mind, the only "leather" on our cars is the center seating surface and where your back touches on the two front seats. The rest of the front seats and the entire backseat is vinyl.
So the only leather in the car is the steering wheel wrap, and the front seat inserts?

Why am I cleaning all the seats with leather cleaner then?

Those Iggee.com seat covers look like they actually fit well, and seem to be a great value.

Cause it makes you feel warm and fuzzy?

The shift knob is also leather wrapped and the shift boot (if you have a manual) is leather.

Looks like GM is actually honest about what it is, now that I check again.

From the build website: Seat trim, front leather seating surfaces Which is 100% correct. The seating SURFACE is leather. Not the seats themselves. How's that for cutting corners?
