When I was a small boy in 1960 we went to the Fleishacker Zoo in San Francisco. While standing in a large crowd of adults in front of the gorilla exhibit, the apes started getting restless. One large gorilla crapped a huge palmful of feces into his hand and flung it at the gaping humans. It struck the woman standing next to me full in the face. As was the style in those days, women often wore lace veils that wound hang down from the front of their hats. Her veil took the brunt of the volley. As she was whimpering and trying to wipe away the larger turds from her bonnet that she now held in her hands, a second salvo of shit, bigger than the first, hit her now naked face and open mouth.

Ahhh, the AK series of weapons, what makes this weapon platform so unique is its ability to be mass produced and how you can teach a 6 year old in 20 minutes how to use it.

*UPDATED* Now apparently chimpanzees have the knowledge to handle an AK. Damn you Russians and your simplicity!

He told me that was the best damn answer he ever heard.

BEFORE:

AFTER THE ATTACK:

AFTER FACE TRANSPLANT:

An experiment conducted in the Bronx Zoo in 1924 compared the strength of a 165-pound adult man, and a 165-pound male chimp named "Boma", and a 135-pound female chimp named "Suzette".

They compared how much weight the human could pull with one arm to that of the apes, the adult man managed to pull 200 pound before reaching his maximum. The male chimp, on the other hand, pulled 847 pounds of weight with one arm, and the female chimpanzee 1,260 pounds.

So as you can see, are ape relatives simply make the strongest of humans look like wimps. On one occasion, a log fell into the exhibit of an orangutan, one which four or five humans could not even budge after trying to remove it, however when one of the orangutan's was annoyed with its presence, it threw the log out as if it weighed nothing with one arm.

As for the strength of the animals, a chimp in the wild has the strength of 4 to 7 adult men, however generally 5 adult men..

An orangutan has the strength of 5 to 8 adult men, however generally 7 adult men.

A gorilla has the strength of 9 to 12 adult men, however generally about 11.

These are estimates taken from feats the animals have performed.

The muscle fibers of the chimpanzee are longer than those of a human, enabling them to generate twice the work output over a wider range of motion. There appears to be certain genes that limit muscle development have been deactivated in the human, but are still present in the chimpanzee.

Research has indicated that the motor neurons in the spinal cord that control muscle function in the human are less prevalent in the chimpanzee, giving the animals immediate access to far greater muscle power than humans have. This enables the chimpanzee to use far more of its potential strength than is possible for a human being, due to the constraints our nervous systems place upon us. Our motor neurons seems to be more fine tuned to conduct delicate procedures.
