How about a Targa roof? I don't want one, personally, but it might be cool

I would be all for one though for those that can enjoy them!
Not that I have been in either one but not sure how that would make any difference as the roof line / height would be the same?
There is not a frame for the roof that gets in the way is there?
I would think everything would be recessed. I can only speak for my 06 VW Jetta with a moon roof. Everything is recessed. But you can't beat it.
On nice days open the sucker up and especially on cool nights.
I love it gotta have it even still.

The headliner is lower in moon roof camaro's. I think you loose 1.5 inches of head room.

Guess what, the corvette is an invalid comparison.

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 216 specifies roof crush resistance.

All vehicles produced must meet these standards. However, there is an exemption for convertibles. And convertibles are defined as not having a roof or having a removable roof such that it is not connected to the windshield pillar.

The targa top of the corvette qualifies as a convertible under the exemption and therefore is exempt.

A T-top maintains a connection to the winshield pillar and therefore does not qualify as a convertible and is not exempted.

Whether or not you agree with the regulations, they are what they are.

Interesting. I wish we could get confirmation, but even still at 5'11" I don't think it is an issue for me anyway. But you know what? Sounds like a trip down to my local dealer for me on this. Don't wanna buy something I don't like.

I am only 6'1" and my head definitely rubs in the moon roof version. No question for me. NO MOONROOF. The car itself is a little claustrophobic from a vision standpoint and I don't want anything tapping me from the top giving me physical confirmations of what my eyes are already telling me.....

Thanks for that excellent explanation. The Big Meddlesome Uncle Sam strikes again. If we don't stand up to him, eventually we will only be able to walk or drive all electric scooters.

Blast regulations, I vote for personal responsibility.

I'm guessing if you already have a T-Top car then you're exempt?

Cause I can go to a local shop and get an inspection sticker here with no problem.

Amen to that!

Screw it, I'm going to college to be a machinist, I'll make my own damn T-top frames and then give some blueprints to a bodyshop to make the roof inserts for em.

The sunroof option on the ZL1 will be the same as on all Camaros. It is a $900.00 option and only comes WITHOUT a mohawk roof just like all of the other coupes.

Of course its not part of the vehicle inspection and older cars would be grandfathered in. It just explains why new car manufacturers won't be making (m)any in the near future. The aftermarket can do what you want.

And T-tops for the camaro are available: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ighlight=t-top

I'm guessing that specific company does it tho, so I'd have to go all the way to SoCal (I'm guessing) to have my T-Tops put in on my SS or ZL1. (if that day comes)

Only other thing I don't like is how the T-Top itself is solid, I've always known and liked how they were glass so it seemed like a big sunroof.

T-tops should stay on the 3rd and 4th gens IMO. The 5th gen was not designed to have t-tops and it looks off IMO when they are put in aftermarket.

Yup. But I did not say anything cause I did not want to hurt anyone's feelings.
Also I think a targa would even look outta place.
I guess I need to go sit in a non moon roof vs a moon roof SS and see if my noggin rubs the roof.
Just a thought. Since the mohawk roof is optional, that would mean probably that the mohawk stripe would be optional WITH a mohawk roof. BUT.
What if you wanted a moon roof WITH a mohawk stripes?
I bet you can't do both and that would mean I would have to take my new ZL1 down to a shop to get a center stripe painted. There goes my mod cherry!

I am sure the sunroof will be an option on the ZL1.... just as it is available on the Cadillac CTS V Coupe.
