Amp Mounting

I just spent a bit of time after work trying to see where to mount my amps. There is no way in hell it will mount in the factory location, let alone two of them. I found two possible locations: in the spare tire well, or on the passenger side behind the panels. I think I decided upon mounting them on the passenger side behind the paneling. In order to mount the amps, there is a fuse box that needs to be relocated and a wire bundle that needs to be unclipped. After you make those adjustments It seems as though you can stack two (2) JL Audio HD amps under the paneling with just enough space. I have posted pictures of the fusebox unclipped, the amps stacked, and the carpeting installed over them with no bulging and all alignment posts going back into the proper spots. This also allows enough room to get your alan key on the front of the amps and tune them after they are mounted. The metal area to mount the amps will allow for two screws to be put in and should provide enough support. The metal is a little flismy, so I will probably beef it up by putting a piece of wood behind it as well.

Very interesting and very nice!!!
Thank you for posting this!!

So now this begs the question of ventilation and heat build up? Yes I have seen the feedback on mounting the JL Amp in the spare tire space. But I am just not getting my head around that since I am a computer guy and electronics need ventilation.

Thoughts on the panel covering up the amps and causing heat build up??

Cheers
K

There should be no issue with heat. I actually called JL Audio today and they said it would be fine... I also had these amps mounted in similar fashion in my last vehicle and pounded them like crazy with no issues.
