Not even a ZO6. Unless maybe a LS9 ZR1.....
Umm.....seriously??

Given equal drivers, the ZR1 will absolutely destroy the ZL1. Even IF the ZL1 were to get 600hp (VERY wishful thinking), the Z06 will still easily be able to take the ZL1 in the 1/4 mile.

Not sure what fantasy land you live in, but if you do some simple power to weight computations you might actually come back to reality.

The only thing IMHO only (just opinion here) is the Z06 will beat it only because of the weight difference; but not by much. I do not think the Z06 will be able to "stomp" a ZL1 by any token of the word. You might think twice before you get close to one and stomp down it on it but no. Im not afraid. Lets take it to the hwy!

The HWY is where you DON'Twant to race a ZL1 vs a Z06. 2011 Z06 top speed=198MPH!

I think some feelings are going to be hurt when the ZL1 comes out. From Car & Driver's Lightning lap:

C6 ZR1: 2:49.8
C6 Z06: 2:58.2
C6 GS: 2:58.5
C6 LS3: 3:01.2
C6 LS2: 3:03.6
CTS-V Sedan: 3:04.0
CTS-V Coupe: 3.04.2

Camaro SS: 3:09.5

The CTS-V is a 4200lb car with the 556hp LSA, 6-speed, magnetic shocks in the suspension, and beefy brembo brakes. Gee, that sounds like a ZL1... even if the ZL1 comes in at 3900-4100 pounds (I predict 4000) and has 570hp or so, that probably won't be enough to shave 3 seconds off of a road course lap. I bet a 2007 Corvette LS2 will put up a good fight against a ZL1 on a road course, while the C6 LS3 will be tougher to catch and the GS/Z06/ZR1 untouchable.

I'm not saying the ZL1 won't be an amazing beast, and I'm not saying I don't want one. However, the reality is we're talking about a 4000lb (or more) large sports car with a supercharged motor and 20" rims. C6 Z06 killer it is not.

Maybe maybe not. We still dont have ZL1 top speed yet.
Besides, If I can't beat you at under 198 mph odds are I wont beat you at all. I will also let you have the race at anything over 120 MPH for safety reasons. On a other note If you are a cars length in front of me at any given point you can have the race as well. But thats not where I plan on beating you anyway.
Its from red light to red light while you are still eating on your sandwich...

You said "take it to the HWY" thats why I gave the Z06's top speed. If the Z06 Driver is snoozing or just a bad driver...I can see a ZL1 taking him at a red light. But if you have equal drivers...no way.

Im old school. Who needs a track? Some good points btw you mentioned.
Not buying a ZL1 to race it on a track or even a drag strip for that matter...
That ZO6 and ZL1 both will spin all the way down the strip to the finish line here where I am from.......
Bring your Z06 to my home town. I know of several 8th mile spots...
Even qtr mile......
Bring that 90K ZO6....im not scared......
Ill be at the finish line quicker than you can line up to the starting line....
Fair enough?
The 50 or so extra in HP is all the edge the ZO6 needs to give me.
Any takers?

Im being dead honest here. I wont race you for pink slips but I will race you for a Benjamin...

The current non z06 and zr1 vettes, stock for stock, might have a hard time with the zl1, but that's where I would end the comparison. The z06 is such an amazing performer in both straightline and handling that it would not be a fair comparison with the camaro. There's nothing wrong with either car, but you have to consider apples and oranges when comparing a zl1 to a z06.

If chevy works on the zl1, then the comparison might be entertaining. Who knows!?!?!

The GS weighs a few hundred pounds more than a Z06 and has 75 less HP, so how can they have practically the same time???
Something ain't right!
