GMPP exhaust is actually made by Borla. I believe the dealer installed ones are the touring type which is not much more aggressive than the stock mufflers. I went with the Borla S axleback and it has a nice deep rumble but nothing obnoxious.

I just put on the Borla S-Type catback and the CAI intake that I bought from APEX for a good deal and love it! It's not obnoxious and sounds the way the car should sound! I am very happy with mine.

I have the Stainless Works Retro Chambered catback as well and love it. Trust me from what you described and what your fiance wants this is the exhaust she'll like. And so far I haven't experienced drone in my 8 months of having it installed.

I went with the SLP Loudmouth II exhaust for my L99 SSRS at first. Loved the top end sound but HATED the cruise "drone" on the highway. Drove me NUTS.
Sold that system and got a corsa Cat Back exhaust with the addition of Dynamaxx HF cats and LT headers. I could not be happier with my car now. Idle is much throatier but not annoyingly loud. Just sounds solid. Cruising on the highway the car is slightly louder then factory but not all that much. Absolutely NO drone of any kind. BUT, when you want to, you can make ALOT of noise when you get on the throttle. Really a jekle and hyde type deal. Very solid sound at low end, great cruise sound, very strong and loud when your playing around. Could not be happier and could never ask for more. I only wanted the car loud when I wanted it to be loud, that is what I have with the Corsa cat back exhaust.

I went with the stainless works retro cat back Apex Chase has posted videos of.If you're going to purchase I'd recommend going though him, very friendly and helpful. I also have solo high flow cats on mine too though. I had it installed Friday and I love how my car sounds. If I had to buy a new exhaust all over again I'd go with the same set up. No regrets with this system.
Not sure if anyone has said it yet but I got to say.. Your wife sounds pretty cool. My girlfriend thinks my car is too loud. She's not really into the whole muscle car thing. I'd say you're lucky your wife's into that. |

I'll echo what everyone else has said about the SW Retro's. I've got them installed and love them.

MBRP all the way. I'm not sure if they make it for the convert yet.
