more the syncros and guide wear strips on the forks that hold the syncros. putting the extra pressure on the stick from leaning on it pushing against them and they can wear out faster. in theory.

I won't stand for there to be much more than 10 miles on my car. I've bought 4 brand new cars and NONE of them had more than that.

Exactly, mine better have less the 15km on it!
I never knew that it causes extra wear, does it "actually" wear it down considerably faster? Im so used to holding my hand on the shifter, even on my auto Fusion lol, just a habit that i can never get out of.
One other question because i always get mixed answers on this from people off this site,
When you are at a light, are you wearing out your clutch if your on it? Like i used to hold the clutch and brake at stop lights, but the guy at Ford said not to that, and that it burns the clutch

Rule of thumb under 50 miles

Never run your car hard or burnout when it only has under 50 miles or run it over 50mph under 50miles , it will not break in corectly go easy on your car only after 50miles burnout do doughnuts whatever just a caution of thought....

Thanks for the answers on putting pressure on the shifter while driving. They all seem to make sense fromm wear and tear and safety issues. One question though and it is serious. I have thought about this as well. What if you see over ten miles on the car when you pick it up? What do you do? Rant? That seems the only option. I sort of expect that and will become mightily po'd if that is the case. Who knows who was driving it around putting it through its paces? I guess it's just something we all have to accept as a possibility.
