You are correct. It is also true with many Managers. That is why they sell a Chevy this week and a Toyota next week. It is hard to expect these guys to know everything you guys know. The people on this site are so into the Camaro and research.
Some of these salesman may know everything there is to know about a Silverado. It is tough to be a cars salesman believe me. These guys get 100%commision in most cases so if you come up to a guy who is in a drought he may get short with you. I don't get short with any Camaro guy because I have a passion for the car. I have 9 ordered thru me but I will not see the money for all of these cars until delivery and you all know how long that will be. We also have to go on official information I cannot speculate I do come here everyday to learn but some of the info here is not at the dealership level yet. Many salesman do not have a log on for Dealer Connect the ones that do may not have access to the order work bench.
My advice is to find a car guy and stick with him. Sometimes it is worth a few extra dollars to have a good guy you can count on.

Geez There are moe correct answers on here than you can shake a stick at. This is where to find the latest and we do have the Fbodfather checking us out to make sure we know what we are talking about. Wrong answer from the dealer. I would shop somewhere else.

I had three GM executives at my house the other day, and we were chatting about this very subject. I often get "tapped" for my opinion on how GM does business from the customer end, and this is my biggest gripe. I mean, I'm a software engineer. I know the products I sell inside and out. I know the technologies I work with like the back of my hand. Its a bit jaw dropping when you talk to dealers who know little to nothing about the products they sell. Its kind of like "Well what do you do all day?!" I do know, however, that GM is planning some changes with its dealer community. I'm forced to keep my mouth shut on that one

Though, my dealer is pretty good about info, and he doesn't get upset when I tell him things like "Tomorrow you should be getting your april consensus, can you tell me if mine gets pulled". I often know things before he does, but he's happy to hear them from me. After all, he has a Camaro on order too.

I actually stopped by another local dealer today here in VA just to see what they had to say. The person that I spoke with was pretty knowledgeable and he even acknowledged that many of the enthusiasts coming into that dealership knew more about the Camaro than he was hearing from GM and that he was learning from some of them. I didn't mention this site to him. Anyway, this is the same dealer where they blew me off a few months ago and said that they had 9 people on the waiting list for cars. Today, he told me that only the first car (it was pulled already for production) was sold and that their #2 and #3 cars were unsold. They said that the dealer was going to order them for stock cars unless someone came in to order them. He said they were selling them at MSRP with no markup. So if anyone in the northern VA area is looking for a car, PM me and I will send you their information.

OIh my god what an ass!! No wonder he's mad - he couldn't sell a car to save his life. He has to know that the Camaro's are HOT if they've already sold 8 before they even hit the dealer. Now here comes buyer #9. Dude - you would have been the easiest sale he made all year. You already know the car, you know the price (sort of), and you're ready to buy it site unseen. WHAT AN ASS he is..

And even worse, this site is FULL of hungry car buyers. I'm sure Camaro5.com wouldn't allow spam, but if I was a dealer, I would definately want to post messages here and invite the people here to buy Camaro's from me. SMART buyers are good buyers.
