Yup, I believe you're right. I've watched a couple of shows on the Yenko but couldn't remember which years the dealer performed the engine swap.

I think everyone on the Camaro team wishes we could offer COPO cars as well...........
......the problem is that was the 60s and they're long gone. Back then we didn't have CAFE - we didn't have a national standard for emissions - and we didn't live in a litigious society whereby people sue people (and GM and other companies) at the drop of a hat. We didn't have to crash test COPO cars - we didn't have to worry about their emissions......and because the Koreans weren't even building cars back then and very few people in the U.S. bought foreign cars, we didn't have to worry about costs - the profits just found their way to the 'big three' and AMC. The world has changed..........BUT - you can still get a 'COPO' - like car (in terms of ultra-performance) As our friend Mr. Green points out - there are still dealers like Berger Chevrolet (the only 'Camaro supercar' dealer still in business and still run by the Berger Family) -- and Tom Henry Chevy and the special Camaros from Fairway Chevy (Las Vegas) and several others. MOREOVER - we as a Camaro/Firebird community are blessed to have SLP and Ed and Dave Hamburger continually bringing out more and more Camaro performance - So while you cannot order a 'stripper' Camaro (...and you can't order a stripper Challenger or Mustang either...there's a reason -- COST to develop one!) -- you can still get blistering performance RIGHT NOW - (and just wait until the mighty ZL1 hits the road course!) One other thing to think about - the 'drivability' of performance cars back then left a lot to be desired - and we won't even start with fuel economy! The 'golden age' of performance was not the late 60s - rather, it's NOW!

DuraMax Camaro: "Sources" tell me there is such a "mule"...or there was to be...w/a BabyMax 4.5.
COPO vs. modern reality: Today, with CAFE, and NHTSA, and corporate edicts, and potential litigation, every varient must be certified/validated/crash-tested...which means BIG buck$...spread over a potentially small number of units, which equals HIGH unit cost. As high or higher than the aftermarket can provide for, possibly. Actually, a COPO 9561 L72 '69 Camaro listed for LESS than an L78 SS396! EDIT: Scott, we're on the same page...
