direct linkage ones are smooth and consistent (unless you wear the return spring out....which is rare)

Did you replace or disturb the Hydraulic portion of the clutch durring your install ?? If not, then you don't know what I'm talking about. If you don't have to disturb the hydraulics (short of disconnecing & reconnecting the slave), then it is no more difficult than doing a clutch job on a cable operated system ... in which case you would be correct !!
