I'm hoping you bought your car used and it already had one in it. That is what happened to me. To be honest I did not know anything about a skip shift eliminator when I bought the car. I did not even know anything about the stock car forcing me to shift from 1-4. Come to find out the person who owned it before me installed one.

It is a 6 speed after all. Autos start from 2nd, & won't ever go into 1st unless you tap it.
I obviously don't have the M6, but if i did... rolling the least bit, i would start probably start in 2nd most of the time... dead stop, 1st always... the fun factor!

1st, see no point in starting from 2nd. If I want to save gas I skip to 3rd, 4th is too far and bogs the car horribly.

you should always start in 1st if at a compete stop. even if the car seems like it can handle it doesn't mean its ok.
