When shifting at low rpm the computer sends a signal to the transmission and it physically pushes the gearshift to the center- neutral position so you can pull it straight back into 4th gear to save fuel. When accelerating harder and shifting at higher rpm's this does not happen.

I'm hoping you bought your car used and it already had one in it. That is what happened to me. To be honest I did not know anything about a skip shift eliminator when I bought the car. I did not even know anything about the stock car forcing me to shift from 1-4. Come to find out the person who owned it before me installed one.

It is a 6 speed after all. Autos start from 2nd, & won't ever go into 1st unless you tap it.

I obviously don't have the M6, but if i did...

rolling the least bit, i would start probably start in 2nd most of the time...
dead stop, 1st always... the fun factor!

1st, see no point in starting from 2nd. If I want to save gas I skip to 3rd, 4th is too far and bogs the car horribly.

you should always start in 1st if at a compete stop. even if the car seems like it can handle it doesn't mean its ok.

Install an automatic and do away with shifting entirely.

That would apply to a car with a taller rear end or taller first gear. First gear in the camaro is quite short. As stated, second from a dead stop is too hard on the clutch.

Those of you who haven't got the skip shift eliminator, DO IT NOW. No excuse not to. 5 minute install if you don't know what you're doing.

I am a little concerned about continuing with starting in second though in terms of the clutch since it does seem to mean the clutch is partially engaged for longer while I get going. Starting in first seems to mean shifting too often though and then you often end up with the skip-shift kicking in which is a pain. Any thoughts?
