I say don't be cheap and get that stuff, just go ahead and get them powder coated or painted. You will get wayyyy more shine and don't have to worry about the life and wear on the wheels and/or chipping and pealing. Plus how many times would you want to mess with that crap if you gotta keep fixing it or re-doing it. Do it right the first time and be done, don't be cheap on your car you have already spent close to 40 grand on it so spend a little and get the wheels done properly.

One more question to those who have done the plastidip. What was the life span of it? Also if it gets chiped or you want to take it off, how easy was it to get off?

I have a guy that will powdercoat mine for approx 200 bucks(50 a rim), I just want to make sure I like the Black on Black before I do it and can't go back.

ummmmm thats a hell of a price to get. I say go for it I'm sure you will like it. Plently of people here that have it done for you to look at. I wouldn't pass that offer up. I paid 250 for just one wheel so I say go for it.

DANG!! I was kinda shocked when he quoted me that price. I was thinking more along the line of what you paid. This was a 90% gloss black, almost matched the car perfectly. Im just one of those guys who likes a little contrast (thus the white strips) I do think the black on black would be sick though.

Oh yeah gotta get the gloss. Man are exactly the paint code for the IOM and the 250 was the wrong quote they just had to honor it. It was suppose to be 300 per wheel since I was done a speciality color. I also contrasted up with Ice silver stripes and brakes. But the shine is important, the wheels will shine just like the car if you get it done like that.

took me about 5 minutes per wheel. 2 wheels came of as one single piece, the other two I had to peel off in sections.

It goes on really easy. Clean and wipe the surface with mineral spirits and apply 4 coats. I haven't removed it off anything yet.

I dono if I want it on there permanently and besides, for 300$ per wheel to powdercoat, I'd just buy a new set of wheels. I actually like the matte black and wouldn't want it glossy anyway. So this gives me the look I want in a tough product that I can "rollback" if I choose to.
Sounds like a win-win to me.
