On the warranty question nothing is in stone.
It is best to talk to the service manager and see what they say because I've read some strange refusals.

can you post a pic of the front of your car where the scoop is? is the missing plastic noticable?

Cats, and their CAI, I also changed the mufflers to DynoMax - am happy with the way car sounds and the increase in performance.
I thought the headers were only for the v8?

Welcome! Check out the Ohio Enthusiasts thread if you'd like to meet up with other Camaro owners in the Cincy area. I grew up on the west side, but now live in Lebanon.

I have the Solo high-flow res-cats. You keep your stock exhaust manifolds and replace your mid-pipes which include your stock cats. Makes the exhaust a little deeper and allows it to flow a little better. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have gone LTs, but I didn't know about the OBXs when I bought these. I probably will be going with the OBX LTs in the spring though to get the added power (and smile-inducing sound).

I wouldn't switch to a cat-back since you already have the axle-back. I doubt you would pick up more than 1-2 hp. The biggest gain on aftermarket exhaust is the weight savings and you already accomplished that.

I have the Injen intake (the long tube version where the filter is down low). It works great and is one of the best in terms of power. Never had a problem with it because of rain or snow. My car is a daily driver and has seen plenty of heavy rain and snow.

Hey Gordy! Thanks for telling me about that thread i would love to start meeting other enthusiasts in the area and see what they are all doing with their cars! Those cats sound interesting. Are they easy to install/remove and what would this mean for my warranty? I also liked the injen, but it seemed a little hard to install for a new guy like me.

All modifications can potentially void the warranty. That partly depends on the modification, the relationship the mod had to the issue, and how friendly your dealer is to mods.

The Solo high-flow res-cats are pretty easy to install. just unbolt the 2 bolts on each side that connect the factory exhaust manifolds to the stock mid-pipes, loosen the factory band clamps which connect the stock mid-pipes to the cat-back, and then put the new mid-pipes in place, and bolt up. No cutting or welding involved.

With that said, if I had to do it over again knowing what the Solo pipes cost and what the OBX LTs cost, I would go with the OBX LTs - or even the BBK LTs. If you go the OBX route, you could also get the tune so you can maximize the value of the LTs and eliminate the CEL, and the total cost would be just slightly more than the Solo pipes.

Right now the only place to get the OBX for the V6 is through ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...84.m1423.l2649

I added you to the Tristate Camaro group on FB.

Stainless Works had the first ones on the market. They used my Camaro to build them off of in the last week of June 2009. If you want to save some money, go with the off road pipes in lieu of cats. Of course you will get a check engine light regardless of having high flow cats or off road pipes.

Hello to everyone on camaro5! I am a long time viewer of this website, but I just now have become and member and this is my first post! I was just hoping to get some specific help and info. Ok so here it goes. I first got my camaro when they released as a graduation present. I got a 2LT auto an love it! however I want to make just a little more power on it as I've always had the interest but just now have the money. Here are my questions:

1. I have recently been looking at headers and as I am new to mods I was just curious how they work and if they really "bolt on". I would like to be able to replace the factory ones at any given time. Also is there any brand suggestions you guys have and what kind of power I can expect? I looked at BBK but I don't know if I believe those numbers.

2. When I ordered the car I got the gmpp exhaust. At the time the people at the dealership told me it was catback and I'd gain power. I have since learned its actually axleback. I love the way it looks and like the sound, but I'm going for performance. Would it be worth the money to get a full catback of another brand? Or should I just keep what I have as I appreciate the sound and look.

3. Lastly I'm looking at cold air intakes. So far I have decided I want the CAI inc. intake and I'm just curious for some opinions here. Absolutely love the look and like the performance. But I'm still curious about the Vararam.

4. How will these affect my warranty? I know some should be safe, but I'm unsure about the headers. Also will I be able to replace all the stock parts? I want to always be able to revert it to 100% factory.

Please keep in mind for all these I have limited experience with installation and am relying on a more knowledgeable friend for help as I'd like to learn how to do these things for myself. Also please no comments telling me to save the money and get a V8. I do not want a V8. I absolutely love the car I have, it was a wonderful gift. I do not want the power of a V8 I just want more performance from what I do have. It is my first Camaro and I am too emotionally attached to give it up, I plan to keep it for life. Thanks for any of the help and info you guys can give! Also sorry if I posted this wrong or shouldve seen all this info in other links. This is my first post and reading through all the older threads was taking too long. (100+ pages on the Vararam thread!)
1.Yes headers really do bolt on. They are a pain in the rear to "bolt on" so if you're new to all of this and have money ivest in some headache insurance and have a reputable muffler shop install them. And no don't believe BBK's numbers. They are misleading.

2.Tough call. If you dig the sound and look then prolly best to not mess. However, headers especially long tube headers are going to make you quite a bit louder. You may want to look into a resonated or perforated X-pipe to keep it all under control soundwise.

3. I own the CAI so I'll try and refrain from fanboism. I have riden in a 2LT RS 6MT which at the time had only the Vararam intake installed. The car sounded great at WOT and the car felt strong. That said I had the same impression from my CAI intake back when I first put it on too. it was my first mod so it too was the only mod on the car. There have been fitment issues with the vararam. There are 0 fitment issues with the CAI intake.

4.As other's have mentioned it really depends on your dealer. Some are mod friendly, some are miserable bean counters. Simply keep all of your stock parts with their accompanying hardware and you should be good. Again the header swap is a pain so keep that in mind. Tip: removing the alternator is a good shortcut on the header project.

Welcome to the forum, and you won't get any V8 comments from me either. I too own the V6 for my own reasons and I feel very attatched to my car as well. I've owned a lot of really neat cars but his one for some reason has me captivated.

I dont have a pic of the scoop mounted. It is mounted behind the fender well. As for seeing the plastic peice from the front of the car it cant be seen. The piece that you cut is on the driver side behind the bottom grille area. Scoop is mounted from the inside right up to the grille opening. A direct shot of fresh air to the CAI box. Hope this helps!!!
